Chapter one

I shut my phone hard. My parents have sent me about seventeen texts and left over four voice mails over the past eight and a half hours of me being on the plane. Did they not understand that I couldn't message or call them back? I mean, I'm over the Atlantic ocean and it's not like I can use my phone anyways. When I land, I should call them...or wait until tomorrow afternoon and really freak them out. Knowing my parents, however, they would probably call the embassy and have a national search going on just to find me only because I didn't call them right away. I'll just save them the trouble and call them as soon as I land.

About an hour later, I landed in Hearthrow and just as I promised my parents before I left, I called them. Even though it was 10:36 in the morning here in London, it was 4:36 back in Wisconsin and my parents probably aren't awake and ready for work yet.

"Hello?" I heard the grogginess in my dad's voice as he answered the phone.

"Daddy? I just landed and I thought I'd give you a call."

"Hey pumpkin, how was your flight?" My dad had a hushed tone, assuming he was trying to not wake up my mom.

"Long, but I'm really tired. I have to go get my bags, so I have to go. I'll make sure to call you as soon as it's a later time back home, alright?" I didn't want my dad to feel like he had to be fully awake and talk to me.

"Sounds great, Gab. I'll let your mother know you called when she wakes up. Love you." He said, and the phone clicked.

Still shocked that I was finally in London, I found the baggage claim and looked around waiting for flight 593's baggage to come around. There was commotion coming from my right, and when I looked, there was a blond coming towards the claim. He wasn't alone; there were about five other men with him, and another younger looking guy with curly brunette hair. I was trying to understand why there were so many girls in the airport with cameras, when all of a sudden I saw bags starting to appear from around the corner. Trying to look for my bag, I noticed that the blond grabbed his and started walking off towards the exit with everyone else that was with him. I snapped out of thought and saw my over-sized black suitcase come towards me and grabbed it. Finally, I was going to be able to get a cab, find the flat and sleep a bit before I met my flatmate.

I arrived to the flat in a matter of 20 minutes and noticed that the front door was partly opened and I heard cussing coming from the inside. Cautiously, I made my way through the door with my bag and set it next to the staircase. "Hello? Is anyone here?"

A girl appeared from the room to my left. "Hey, I'm Amelia, but please. Call me Lia." The dark blond girl stuck her hand out to me, and I noted her accent.

Taking it, I decided to not be awkward and respond. "I'm Gabrielle, but call my Gabby or Gab."

"Awesome! So where are you from and what are you doing here?" She started walking to what I guessed was the living room due to the couch, chairs and television that were taking up the small space.

"I'm from Milwaukee, Wisconsin over in the States, and I'm studying abroad for nursing. What about you?"

"Well, I'm from Brisbane, Australia, and I'm studying abroad here for psychology. How old are you? I'm guessing about 19, right?" The accent was thick, and gave me an answer as to why she wasn't talking like a Brit.

"Close, I'm 17, but I turn 18 next month. I got to graduate high school early and start college earlier as well." It was true. I was number three in my graduating class, and to tell the truth, the classes in my school weren't challenging enough so I decided to graduate early.

"Wow, impressive. I'm 18 myself, but I'm obviously not as intelligent as you because I just graduated this past year in May." She laughed, and started walking away. "Would you like me to give you a tour? I got here last night and was able to discover quite a bit."

Nodding my head, I got up and followed her to the kitchen. It was standard size, nothing too special with a small refrigerator, microwave, oven and large sink. After that, she walked me to the stairs and led me upstairs.

"I picked the smaller bedroom, because my boyfriend is studying abroad too and his flat is down the road. Since I'll be spending all my time there, I only thought it was fair you got the larger room." Lia started walking towards another room and shut the door behind her.

I already knew we would be great friends.

Opening the door, I rolled my suitcase into the room. It was much bigger than my room back home in Milwaukee. This room was furnished already with a full bed, vanity dresser, and nightstand. It was nicely decorated, but decided that I would have to hang many more photos of my friends from back home, pictures of family, and posters of my favorite bands.

"There's a lot of pretty girls in this city. There's a lot of pretty girls in this town. I'm trying to pick the right one. I'm trying to pick the right one. Trying to find a shawty to hold me down." The ringtone by IYaz on my phone was singing back to me. I raced over to my phone and realized that my mom was calling me.

"Hey mom, I was waiting for you to call." I tried to cover my sarcasm.

"How was your flight? Did you sleep okay? What time is it? Did you meet your roommate?" My mother threw out a mouthful of questions.

Laughing, I started to answer. "It was great mom, and I was able to sleep fine on the plane until we got over New York. The weather wasn't great there so the turbulence was bad, but after that we were fine. I met my roommate as well, and her name is Amelia but Lia for short. It's only 11:30 in the morning here, mom."

"Well I'm glad you made it there safe. Make sure you sleep well so the jet lag doesn't get to you bad, and make sure you go shopping for your books and materials before next week." I heard my mom sigh, and finally she said her goodbyes saying she had to leave for work.

I tossed my phone over on to the blue and grey flower patterned quilt on my bed, and flopped my suitcase on the bed as well. Opening the suitcase, I saw that there were a lot of red and white polo's as well as cardigans in the suitcase. 'This isn't mine. This is not my bag.' I thought to myself. I looked near the handle on the bag and saw the name card.

The note card read: Niall Horan

                                       Mullinger, Ireland

If this isn't my bag, then where is mine? Also, who the hell names their child 'Niall?'
