It's a funny thing, you know, when you want to get to know someone but realize right away it isn't going to work out. I've only known Niall now for two days, and so far I felt myself getting closer to him. However after the news he shared with me at coffee this morning, I couldn't help but feel that maybe it would be better if I forgot about him and everything he said.

I left the cafe and made up a lie telling him I had to go register for classes. Although I felt bad and I could tell by the expression on his face that he knew I was lying to him. We exchanged numbers, and then I left. Trying not to think about how much of a bitch I was to him, I decided to think about how much I should actually work it out and understand him. Niall was however the only person that I have met so far on this trip besides Lia, and it would be nice to talk to someone else while she's away with her boyfriend.

Taking my shoulder bag, I went into the city to shop for some books and magazines I could read to keep me company while I was bored at night or waiting for class to start. It seemed though everywhere I walked there were posters with One Direction up and down the store windows, and when I walked into the music store to look at records, they had a cardboard cutout of them hanging on the wall. 'Really,' I thought to myself, 'They're that big?' I bought a few CD's and a Rolling Stones magazine and left for home. Letting my curiosity get to the best of me, I felt the need to search for them on the Internet.

I pulled up Google and searched One Direction, and there were easily over one million results. After a half hour of researching, I concluded that there were contestants on the X-Factor here in the UK and they were releasing their album soon here too. Obviously they are much bigger than I thought because there were fan sites dedicated to them, and girls were talking about them left and right. I felt right then that I should talk to Niall and get to know him better. Not One Direction, just Niall from Ireland.

Dialing his number wasn't easy by any means. I kept contemplating if I should hang up or not, and after five minutes or pacing back and forth, I decided it would be better if I just got it done with.

"Hello?" He said from the other line.

"Hey, it's Gabby. The one you met for coffee this morning. Look, I'm really sorry I left in a hurry. It was rude of me." I prayed that he wasn't mad at me.

"Yeah, it's fine. Maybe it was a bit too much to take in the first time we hung out." I heard Niall take a big sigh. "But thank you for not screaming and jumping in my face. Most girls freak out when they find out that it's really me and I'm the one in One Direction."

"Trust me, I'm not one to fangirl over a band." I laughed.

"Well, that's great to hear. Maybe we could hang out again sometime soon and get to know each other more without anyone getting in the way."

"Yeah, I'd love that. How about we just watch a movie or something over at my house. That's only if you want though." After saying that, I felt like a creep because I don't know him that much and it might make him uncomfortable.

"I'm free tomorrow night after seven. We have a meeting with our manager about some shows coming up, but I can make sure to come over after that. I'll even bring the popcorn and drinks." I heard a slight laugh escape from him.

I gave him my address and told him I would see him tomorrow night. We said our good byes and that was that. Now I just had to make sure that Lia wouldn't come home tomorrow and freak out, not because there's a guy in the house, but because there's a famous guy in our house.

It was inching closer to eleven o'clock at night when I saw my phone light up and start buzzing. I reached over and pulled it off of my charger and say that my parents were calling me.

"Did we wake you up, pumpkin?" My dad asked after I answered the phone.

"No, I was still up and watching the TV in my room. How are you?"

"Oh, I'm fine, but your siblings miss you already and wanted to talk to you. Here, let me get them." I heard a few noises of kids running in the background and finally there was someone on the other line.

"Hey Gab, I miss you a lot. I have things to tell you." I could easily tell by how quick she was talking that my sister who was fourteen was on the other side of the phone.

"Hey Elly. I miss you too. Did you talk to mom and dad about letting you fly out here for spring break this coming year?"

"Yeah, they said I can go as long as I keep my grades up. I'm trying really hard so I can come see you!" I could almost hear the huge smile that was on her face right now.

I laughed, "I'm sure you'll do fine, just make sure you study. Text me later and tell me what you wanted to talk about. Put Brian on the phone, Elly."

From the other side, I could hear Elly calling for Brian, and suddenly he picked up. "How's London?"

"Brian! It's fantastic. You'd love it here. The girls are super gorgeous." I wish he was here so he could see me wink at him. Brian was my brother who was sixteen and we get along great.

"I bet." Brian laughed through the phone. "Are you coming back home for Christmas break?"

"I was hoping so. I get four weeks off, but I might have to stay if I have a lot of school work."

We talked a bit longer and I got to talk to my younger sister too. Maggie was the one who liked One Direction, and knowing that a seven year old can't keep a secret, I decided that it was best not to tell her right now that I know Niall. After talking to my sister, I spoke to my mom and once more with my dad before falling asleep.

Looking at my clock, it was already midnight and Lia still hadn't come home. I've been trying to become friends with her, but it's difficult when she's constantly gone at her boyfriends house. I'll figure out something to do with her tomorrow. All girls like to shop right? As I was wondering what I would do tomorrow until seven, I drifted to sleep.
