I called my mom that night, making sure she was home from work.
"Hey Gabby. How's London?" My mom asked excitedly.
"It's wonderful, mom. Really great people. How's everything at home?"
I heard a long sigh. "Everything's fine, but I don't think El will be visiting you this spring."
"What? She can't have grades in the grade book already, can she?"
"It's not her grades, she's just not getting along with dad and her siblings. Personally, I think it's just because she misses you and is lashing out on everyone."
"Well, maybe a week away is what she needs. I have to go because I have to get up early to do last minute shopping. Tell everyone hello and I'll talk to everyone later this week. Bye, mom."
Going to bed at ten for the first time since I came here feels great.
My alarm that was set for eight in the morning is the most annoying item I own, but knowing I had a lot of shopping to do today, I woke up anyways. I did my usual routine-hair, makeup and got dressed in casual shorts and a tee shirt and headed to the store. I grabbed all my books that I knew I needed to buy, as well as other school supplies I needed that I didn't bother to bring over from the states. After, I knew that the winter months were coming, so I went to Jack Wills to buy a few sweaters, long sleeved shirts, flannels, jeans, and a new jacket. The total was outrageous, but knowing that these clothes would last me not only this year and the years to come, I knew it was worth it. Anyways, I have a job that starts on the twelve of this month, so if I kept to my budget I knew I would be fine.
I left the store carrying my bags and hailed a taxi to bring me back home. Like always, though, Lia wasn't home and I assumed she wouldn't be for a while. I brought my bags upstairs, putting my new clothes away but keeping out the outfit I wanted to wear tomorrow. There was an assignment due tomorrow for my human anatomy class that I needed to print off, and once I did I put it in my backpack along with all the new books and supplies I got this afternoon.
"Alright, I think I'm good." I whispered to myself.
Going into the kitchen to start dinner, I heard the doorbell ring and went back to the front of the house to answer it.
Niall was standing there. "Hey, beautiful. Mind if I come in?"
"Sure. I'm starting dinner if you'd like to join." I led us into the kitchen. "I'm making lasagna, so you can help me."
"I'd love to. Just tell me what I have to do." Niall said over his shoulder while washing his hands in the sink.
Niall was certainly not the best cook in the world, but you could tell he really tried..that was when he wasn't eating the ingredients. The lasagna was in the oven, and Niall and I sat down at the table in the kitchen.
"So, what brings you here anyways?" I looked up from my hands that were wrapped around my water bottle.
"My flat is down the road and I'm getting some things done to it, and I wasn't much help so I went for a walk and decided to come over. I hope you don't mind."
"Oh, no. Plus, now I have someone to eat dinner with. My flatmate is always gone with her boyfriend."
"Ah, yeah. Well I'm glad I came then." Niall smiled at me. "I'm hungry. When will it be done?"
"Niall, it just went in the over. It has another half hour to cook." I laughed.
He was already impatient when it came to being hungry. "How about we watch tv or something? There's got to be something on."
