I woke up the next morning around nine o'clock and took a long shower. I stepped in and heard a loud scream come from across the hall.
There was a knock on the bathroom door, and before I could even say anything, Lia burst into the room. "Gab, you're never going to guess what I just got us!"
"And what might that be?" I asked washing the shampoo out of my brunette hair.
"One Direction tickets for Liverpool in January! You have to go with me!"
My heart stopped. I didn't tell her I knew Niall and I know that if I kept that from her, she'd kill me. For my sake however, I decided to keep that a secret. "That's awesome, Lia! I can't wait. Now can you please get out and let me finish showering?"
Lia could sense the annoyed tone in my voice and started leaving.
"Wait, what are you doing today?" I questioned quick before she closed the door.
It took her a while to answer. "Well nothing this afternoon, but Bryce is bringing me out to dinner and a movie. Why? What did you have in mind?"
"Well, I know we need to go out and grocery shop, but I was thinking after that we could just hang out. You know, shop and have lunch together."
"Of course! How about we leave in and hour and I'll go get ready for the day?" There was a cheer in her voice as she left the room.
Would it be weird if I told Niall tonight that my roommate got tickets to his concert in January? I thought then it'd be best to wait until we became better friends to tell him. I washed the remainder of the conditioner out my hair, hopped out, and wrapped a towel around my head. I decided to go light on my makeup; foundation, mascara, and lip gloss. It was supposed to be a hot day today, and sweat mixed with makeup didn't give me a good look, and I decided to wear purple short shorts and a white tank top to keep cool in the heat. I started walking down stairs as I swung my hair into a high pony tail, and saw Lia walking out of the kitchen wearing a cute strapless sun dress and he hair in a fishtail braid.
"Ready to go? Let me grab my bag and sunglasses." Lia turned back around to grab her things.
We walked out the door and I locked it behind me. "Where should we go first? Grocery store or the shopping district."
We both looked at each other and without saying anything, we directed ourselves towards London's shopping district. Lia found this cute boutique and walked right in with me following. We spend our whole afternoon like that until we knew it was time to go shopping for the necessity in our lives. Lia made a list of the foods she loved, and I did the same and we broke up and went separate ways in the store to search for what we wanted. Because I like to make everything from scratch, I picked out the food staples like pasta, spices, and everything in between. As I was heading up to the cash register, I saw a magazine by the counter. It had a picture of One Direction on it and read, "One Direction Single Out Soon." I took the magazine and bought it along with my other goods, and noted that before Niall comes over, I should read it and make sure that it's hidden so it doesn't look like I'm stalking them.
Lia arrived at the same checkout counter about ten minutes later with a cart full of the usual food you would expect in a teenagers house. Chocolate, cakes, breads, ice cream and chips. She looked up at me. "Hey, you never know when you need these things."
I rolled my eyes and helped Lia carry the grocery bags up front and hailed a taxi. "What time is Bryce picking you up?"
"He said around five, but knowing him it will be five thirty." She looked me up and down. "Why are you so anxious to get rid of me, Gabby?"
"Lia, I'm not trying to get rid of you." I could feel her eyes stare deeply into me. "Okay, I'm having a friend over to watch a movie, and I would love it if you weren't there."
"Oh, a boy perhaps? What's his name?" She smiled back at me and winked.
"I'm not saying anything. Maybe some other time you two can meet." Thankfully the taxi pulled up to our flat before I had to answer anymore questions. Lia helped me unpack our purchases and we put them away in the proper places.
Lia looked at her clock, "Well, I'm going to get ready. Holler if you need anything, Gab!" and with that, she went up stairs.
Finally about a half hour later, she was gone. I found myself pacing around the flat, making sure it was clean and tidy before Niall came over. After I nit-picked everything, I got myself together and went to get ready. I decided the more casual I look the better, so I slipped on skinny jeans and a sweatshirt from my university back home. I threw my hair up into a fishtail braid, and left my makeup the same as what I had it before. 'Why do I keep pacing? It's just two friends watching a movie. Alone. In my flat. With popcorn and drinks.' I kept thinking. 'No Gab, snap out of it. Stop having a crush on him, it's not going to happen.' With that thought, I went back down stairs and made sure the fridge was stocked with drinks and the counter had candy laying out in case we wanted more.
Time seemed to go on forever until finally at seven on the dot, the doorbell rang. I started running towards the door, but stopped myself before I turned the corner into the foyer. I really needed to calm down, so I slowly walked over to the door and opened it. There he was, standing in dark denim jeans and a mint green shirt that read 'Free Hugs' across it.
"Hey Gabby!" He smiled as I welcomed him into my house taking the grocery bag from him. "So what movie are we watching?"
"I went to the video store and picked out a couple. You can go into the living room and decide which one you want to watch, and I'll go put these in the kitchen." We walked off our separate ways, and about two minutes later I came back in the room carrying popped popcorn and two drinks with me. "So you picked Zombieland? I've never seen that one, but my flatmate suggested it."
Niall shyly laughed, "Yeah, I've seen it a few times and I think it's pretty good." Niall took the popcorn and his drink and sat across the couch from me. He was already half way done with the popcorn before the movie even started.
The movie was over with in about an hour and a half, and we just sat there talking. Not once was his band brought up or his fans, and we never mentioned anything else along those lines. We just talked about each other, our dreams and our goals. After talking so much, I noticed that he was starting to inch closer to me, and the butterflies in my tummy were going crazy and my heart was pumping way too fast.
