Chapter 3

So I spend the weekend with my dad just sitting out by the porch and talking while watching the wave’s crash against the sand. I love spending time with my dad like this. It reminds me of how it has been us against the world for as long as I can remember. I told him about my summer job and he kept insisting like he always does that I didn’t need to work and that I should enjoy summer. But as usual I would always win these argument saying things like how it would look good on my college application and how I was saving up for a car.

Monday came in a flash. I woke up at the crack of dawn to make breakfast for both my dad and I. We ate and I got changed into a pair of black shorts and a red tank top and threw a hoodie over it, stuffed a towel, a bottle, and a pair of flip flops into my back pack and headed back downstairs. It was still early for me to head over to the shack so I decided to go for a run. I laced up my Nike’s, plugged in my iPod, kissed my dad goodbye and headed out the door.

The weather outside was still a little chilly since it was only the beginning of summer. I started out on my run in the opposite direction of the sport shack. I noticed another figure not too far ahead of me sitting on the rocks with their heads looking towards the sky. I realized that figure was a guy as I got closer. I was really curious as to who it was since I was the only one out here who ran this early in the morning. He looked like he wanted to be alone so I just kept on running till I reach my usual resting spot. I sat down in the sand, pulled out my headphones and grabbed my bottle from my back pack. I let the wind blow in my face as I breathe in the smell of the sea and listen to the waves crashing against the rocks. I turned to my left I saw the guy sitting on the rocks staring back at me. I couldn’t see anything except for the fact that he had a head of chocolate brown hair. Next thing I knew he was getting up from the rock he was sitting at and marching over to where I was looking slightly pissed off. “What are you doing here? How the heck did you find me here? Look before you act as though this entire thing was a coincidence and all that bullshit; just let me lay it all down nice and clear for you. Just like I’ve told all the other girls, I’m not interested in any of you dumb girls and I’m not gay either. So spread the news to the rest alright?!” He told me off and started to walk away. By the time he was done I was so mad I was about to blow my top off. I grabbed my stuff and ran in front of him blocking his way. “Hold up! You don’t get to talk to me like that and just walk away. Who do you think you are huh? Hold that thought, I could care less who you are but for your information, no I did not find you here on purpose. I’m here because this is where I always run. Oh and I don’t know who the rest of these girls are and I don’t give a rats ass about them either but don’t you dare call me dumb or compare me to them because they must be some kind of dumb to like an asshole like you.” I practically yelled at him. Before he could say anything I plugged in my headphones and started running towards the sport shack.
