The shadow of the helicopter flitted across the desert landscape as it transformed into a mountainous rolling floor below you.
You could hear the whirring of the blade even through the sealed cabin, head against the window.
"Don't bite anyone, don't hit anyone, and don't call anyone obscene names, directed at you Skales," Pythor swirled hot tea around a thermos.
"I feel persssonally attacked," Skales retorted.
"We are not children," Skalidor said, watching out the window just like you.
Bruno looked at you and smiled.
"Yes, but you're not human either and I need you to act like it," Pythor curled his lip, "If they ask your scales say plastic, if they ask about your tails say robotics. Act pleasent, act confident, act like you belong."
"What if the workerss question uss?" Skales asked.
"Say you started working today."
"What if they ask our namess?"
"Give them some random human name then," Pythor cut his eyes over to Skales, tongue flitting out of his mouth.
"Like what? What are some human namess?" Skalidor looked at Bruno.
"Peto, Untinssel, Ring, Man, Rufus-" Bruno offered.
"No- No, that last one was a dog's name," You stopped and turned to them.
"A human dog name?" Bruno asked.
"There is no such thing," Skalidor narrowed his eyes.
"I think they call those werewolvess," Skales replied.
"He means dogs possessed by humans," Pythor stopped sipping his tea.
"Ghost dogs- possession," Skales started.
"Dogs under the ownership of humans!" Pythor screeched.
"We still don't have human names," Skalidor rumbled.
"You're Skylor, Bruno is a convincing enough name, and Skales is Sam," You pointed to each.
"I'm Sam," Skales repeated.
"And Pythor," You started, but he flashed a card in front of you, "You've got a driver's license?"
"I wouldn't have asked you to drive if I didn't."
You took the license out of his hand. He was perfectly photogenic not suprisingly, framed with a slight smirk lifting his stubble painted lips, the name printed underneath- 'Peter Charles'.
"How did you get this?" You asked, "Forgery?"
"Yes, of course, but I'm actually in the police databases too," He watched Skales argue with Skalidor about dog names.
You took one more look at the card, a little bit less ashamed to stare at it than him, and the words of the Fangpyre maid came to mind. He was classically handsome.
What? Your face lit up.
"Ashamed of my felonious deeds, dear?" He took the license back away from you, putting it back in a wallet and then back in his satchel.
The co-pilot in the front turned, taking his headset off to reveal pointed green-scaled ears, "It'ss a hilly area, I think we can drop you off fairly clossse," he pointed to the elevation mapping in the front.
