I ran, ran as fast as my legs would carry me, ran and ran for my dear life, with my left arm dangling uselessly. When will I stop getting into trouble? Honestly, from day one it's been like that. I am so definitely cursed.
The golem, a moving mud tower, swatted at the trees like flies, as it continued to lumber towards me. In mid-run, I rapidly changed direction fluidly, intending to shake it off. However, the golem persistently followed.
How in the world can he even find and chase me? Am I not hidden by the tree canopy? How can he continue to chase after me? If I can figure it out and do something about it...
Is it the eye? Using some sort of infrared vision? I have to break it then. I still have my wire, gloves and knife. But I can't use the previous plan because the trees are not sturdy enough to act as pillars.
I want a rifle or something so bad right now. But firearms are only given by the army to other recruits who do not take this special course and regular army. Probably to train us, we are not allowed to possess them unless there is a special reason.
Halting to an immediate stop, I turned and dashed straight at the golem. Something as heavy as that ought to have lots of inertia, coming to a stop when moving that fast, there's high chance it might slip. Even if it does not slip, it will skid to a stop and that would buy me some time.
I raced past under the golem's feet. Behind the golem, I turned to face its back and leaped up to it. Unsheathing my knife, I stabbed at it to gain a leverage.
However, I didn't realize. The mud golem was not completely solid. Unlike the colossal giant made of stone that I first met, this one is made of mud. Hence I should have known, my knife just slipped past the mud and I faceplanted to the muddy ground.
Arghh, I guess this won't work. I can't climb and crush the eye. Hmm, just out of curiosity, I wonder where the magic circle is?
Underneath the golem, I pulled myself up and scanned the body of the golem for the magic circle.
Ah! There it is... But wait, freaking hell. That's difficult as hell.
The location of the magic circle is under the left arm. Why is it difficult? Well, if I climb it, most likely I will have to scale an almost horizontal surface while destroying the circle. Definitely impossible. No way I could do that. My arms are neither superhumanly strong nor able to grab that kind of slippery surface.
Then what? I guess I only can do my first plan huh. Run around its feet and trip to make it fall. Especially with all the trees and the soft, slippery earth underneath our feet, there are high chances the golem will fall.
Ok then! Commence operation golem slip.
The first step, create some distance between me and the golem.
Exactly when I was doing that, a bright flash exploded. I was blinded.
