"Oh, someone else was here? Couldn't even take care of something like that yourself?Hahh, I had to clean up after your mess. Useless junk."

A deep male voice dripping with enough hostility to cause goosebumps, criticized me, while my vision is still pure white.

A snapping sound resounded after he finished talking.

Ensued with me being smacked right in the gut, lifting me off a couple feet in the air, before dropping unceremoniously to the ground.

What the heck just happened? What is going on? My mind, thrown disarray, losing all sense of directions.

"I'll let you off with that, I guess. Killing off sacrificial lambs to send off in battle, uhh, my father will totally butcher me."

I wheezed and coughed out blood, hopelessly trying to regain my breath. Attacks followed by light? That reminds me of someone.

Oh right, that annoyingly talented family. Well, to be more accurate, physical attacks that stem from light. The ranked one cornerstone family, Licht. There's someone from that monster family in this year? How the hell did I not spot him before?

Their insanely overpowered ability, the ability to turn any light to a physical, tangible object to smash anything in their way. As long as a single light source was available to them, they are completely invincible. Absolutely no way to beat that kind of ridiculous power.

I wriggled in the ground, coughing up blood profusely, not likely to get up anytime soon.

Meanwhile, previously at the entrance...

Itsuo POV:

I stood in front of the line, preparing to get off to a running start at any moment. My preparations are perfect, my body is in the best condition, my horoscope today is favorable as well. I will definitely be number one today.

Be the best and show them off, those fools back at home...

Well, if I have to say one thing that irks me off is that uncontrollable spontaneously combusting idiot is right here, next to me.

Scanning the crowd around us, while trying my utmost effort to ignore him, I spotted a girl. Why am I particular about this girl?

Well, long time ago, my grandfather was extremely strict. He would train me and my siblings non-stop, from day to night. Till we bleed, get diarrhea, broken bones, he would keep on training us. The point being, I acquired the sense to judge people's worth.

Remember the time, when I ran away when Kael shouted at me to? Normally, I wouldn't listen to him. But my instincts were screaming to get out of the way.

I can tell if a person is dangerous, weak, pathetic or ruthless. Back in my country, they would call people like this having good battle sense or instinct. Well, there is one exception. A person named Orpheus. I can't appraise his worth. I feel that he definitely is a pure thoroughbred fool. However, at the same time, there's something lying underneath, like an inactive, venomous snake hibernating.

In any case, this girl is definitely up to something. Around my location, other than Kael, this girl is the most dangerous. I should stick close to her. My gut is telling me to stick close to her. Hence I did just that.

Then, as expected, something did happen. A wall of metal huh. Impressive.

I slipped past the wall, just as it erected. In the end, only two of us went pass the wall.

She glanced at me, with her eyebrows raised, looking as if she wanted to say something but didn't. Somehow, one thing led to another and we ran side by side. In complete silence. How flipping awkward.

Kael POV:

"Arghh! That Eisen girl and her petty tricks. I'll burn it all down!"

A wall of metal? You think that's enough to stop me? The great me?

I started shadow boxing, in the direction of the wall, with every punch summoning a new ball of flames. I did this multiple times. How thick is this wall? Seriously, this is the second time in just two days in which my flames are ineffective. Argghh, no good, I can't lose my self-confidence now.

Suddenly, a flash of light appeared, I was thrown off my feet, alongside with the rest of the recruit and fell to the ground, blinded.

What just happened?

Licht:

"Bunch of useless junks. As always, common plebians should just stay as pebbles at the side of the road. Don't block my way."

Licht said out loud, thinking as he shook his head. Hahh, I was standing at the back, because I didn't want to mingle with lesser beings and it is so sweltering hot. Hell. But then, someone created a barrier, then that weakling tried unsuccessfully to burn it down.

What is so difficult? Just with a snap of my finger and that wall is toppled. Hahh, I should start running now, I guess. My father will never let me hear the end of it if I did not get the first place.

Kael POV:

By the time, I woke up, I woke up in an infirmary bed. Seeing a nurse tending to a patient on the next bed, I scrambled off my bed, only to fall flat on my face. After cursing for a while, I frantically asked her what happened, while rubbing my sore nose.

She replied in a deadpan voice.

"Oh, you and the around three hundred of you were knocked out by Michael Arch Licht and were automatically disqualified."
