'THIS ISN'T A DREAM'After looking through the papers for a good two hours no good jobs seemed to be available, however, Benny, being the wonderful guy he is, offered Millie a job. She'd also be working weekdays, but different hours than Finn for most of the time, so that one of them could always be home with Mathilda.
The sun was almost set, and it was time to get home.
—
Getting home Mathilda was exhausted and Finn tucked her in, Millie also waving a quick goodnight. After that Finn showed her around the rest of the house, everything was so neat and organized. He really was living a successful life, for an ex-juvenile delinquent that is.
"It's late, we should get to bed. I've got some sweats for you if you want?"
Fin offered, to which Millie kindly agreed
"I'll go get the shower started for you"
Hell, he'd never admit it but she really needed one. Starting up the shower he went over to his dresser as Millie stood by him, watching his every move carefully, curious what the life a normal adult was like.
Handing her the blue sweatshirt and gray sweatpants she thanked him again and then went into the bathroom, locking the door behind her. Millie stripped herself of her filthy clothes, the dirt on her skin looked like a tan line without her clothes on, she felt disgusting and couldn't look at herself any longer. She hopped into the shower, letting the hot water run down her skin and wash of the dirt and grime that's been building up for months wash away.
Looking down Millie could see that the water was almost black, and that's when she started to cry. She didn't even know if she was happy or sad, it felt like a horrible mixture of both.
Getting out she looked herself, almost feeling as if she was looking at a new person. She put on the sweats that Finn had given to her, enjoying the soft and new feel of them. But what she loved the most was his smell, it was something she had missed so much.
Coming out of the bathroom Finn looked at her as if she was in a million dollar dress, maybe it was because she had just showered for the first time in over 6 months, or because he was still just as in love with her.
"Pretty"
He spoke, the complimenting word falling right out of his mouth. Millie blushed and smiled sheepishly. Finn quickly remembered he probably should tell her about the whole sleeping in the same bed thing.
"Right uh, I usually sleep on the right side so you can take the left."
For some reason this was just such an awkward thing to phrase, they've slept in the same bed countless times before, but that was many years ago
"You want me to sleep with you? Well, next to you?"
Millie asked shyly, immediately restating her sentence realizing how bad it had sounded
"Well, yeah. You're still my girlfriend right?"
The words slipped right out of his mouth, he immediately regretted everything
"Millie I didn't mean it like that, I was just–"
"I'm most definitely still your girlfriend, Finn"
She said standing up on her tippy toes and placing a sweet kiss on his cheek, then getting into bed.
Finn followed behind her, getting into the bed he didn't know what to do. Was he supposed to hold her? Spoon? Cradle her like a baby? It felt like their relationship was starting again.
