'YOUR EYES ARE THE SIZE OF THE MOON'Eleven days had already passed, and Finn and Mathilda have been visiting Millie every single day. But today would be a bit different...
—
It was nine in the afternoon, two hours later than Finn usually would wake up. At seven in the morning was his normal wake up time, but he had forgotten to set his alarm last night. However, all of this was just to Mathilda's luck. She woke up extra early and dolled herself up with some makeup she had recently bought from the near bye drugstore. Running out the door by the time Finn would usually be up, meeting up with a special someone at Central Park.
Mathilda didn't know know that she was technically taken advantage of Finn, she would've felt a lot worse about what she was doing. Because without Millie, Finn wasn't the same; that much was obvious. But what she didn't see was the way he'd toss and turn at night not being able to have Millie in his arms, his sleepless nights and the meals he'd skip because nothing appealed to him without Millie. But he wouldn't tell anyone, especially not Millie, he didn't want to her to feel bad about something that wasn't her fault.
Finn woke up with a jolt, another bad dream. The same bad dreams he'd have when he was still out searching for her, the ones where they'd get so bad words couldn't even describe how he felt after waking up. But after seeing the time on his clock he didn't have time to weep about his bad dreams, he had to go see Millie. Not even bothering to change clothes he jumped out of bed and ran to the nearest bus stop, the bus was just passing by.
Without a second to wonder how long he'd have to wait until the next bus came he ran as fast as his would feet would take him, eventually catching up to the moving bus and slamming his fists against the door as he tried to keep his pace with the vehicle. Eventually the bus stopped and opened its doors, nearly hitting Finn in the face. He only had one dollar left in change, just enough to get him to the jail and back home; thank god he got his paycheck from Benny tomorrow.
He handed the bus driver fifty cents and went to find a seat before being stopped by the bus driver.
"50 cents please"
The old man said holding his hand out for the change
"What? Why? I just gave you fifty cents! That pays for my trip!"
Finn said, aggravated enough at the fact that he was already late and now this bus driver was slowing him down even more.
"It's 50 cents on top of your traveling fee because you made me stop"
"I never heard that one before"
Finn said under his breath as he looked through his pockets for his last two quarters
"That's because it's my rule"
The bus driver said in a snarky tone
"What the fuck? That's not fair! Look this is all I have left and I need to go visit my girlfriend and—"
"Oh yeah, like I haven't heard that excuse before. 'Oh this is all I have left' or the classic 'but I have to visit my girlfriend' you kids today come up with the dumbest excuses. Now pay up or get off my bus."
"But—"
"Pay up or get off my fucking bus!"
The bus driver shouted, making Finn throw the 50 cents at him and find a seat. But not even two minutes after sitting down he realized, he never woke up Mathilda.
