Kat is a shy bookworm. Ash is captain of the football team. How could their worlds possibly collide? It all starts with a party that gets out of hand. A small friendship blooms and it quickly turns into a beautiful romance. They seem to be inseparab...
I fall asleep softly that night but have a nightmare that my mother found me. I wake up screaming and Ash rushes in to see if I was alright.
"Hey, hey, hey, it's okay now. It was just a dream. It was all just a dream." he says in a soft, calm voice.
"I know Ash, but it felt so real to me," I say worriedly.
"What happened?"
"I... I saw my mother in here, in this room. She looked like..." I stop. I don't want to frighten Ash any more than he already is.
Who was that strange man in my dream? He was standing behind mother. She looked frightened. More for me than for herself and the man was holding a knife to her throat. She tried to walk up to me but he pushed the knife in a little bit, making her silently scream out in pain. She tried to say something but nothing came out. Then I watched the man slit my mother's throat. I tried to call out for my mother, just as she had me but, just like her, nothing came out. I was scared. I could feel it inside me. The man smiled cynically and dropped my mother to the floor, throat bleeding all over the wooden floor. I tried to move but I couldn't. I couldn't do anything. All I could do was watch. The man walked up to me at first. I tried to move and he stepped back for a moment, watching. Laughing. His laugh was so piercing. It was the only thing I could hear. It kept getting louder and louder until I started to scream and cry. He picked my mother up by her neck and hung her corpse on the ceiling fan. Like he was mocking me. I closed my eyes. "This is just a dream. Just.. a dream," I told myself but when I opened my eyes again, he was inches away from my face. I looked at him but, the scariest thing about him was that, at first, he had no face. But the more I looked, the more the man started to look like Ash. I whimpered. He put a finger up to his mouth and I stopped. He crawled on top of me and kissed me. I tried to turn my face away but he held it so I couldn't move at all. He sat up on me and took off his shirt. That was what woke me up. You could see so many people's faces moving on his stomach, trying to get out. He laughed when he saw my mother's face appear right next to my father's. He laid his chest on mine and I felt dozens of people clawing at my stomach trying to get out. I screamed in pain and I cried. He said one thing to me that I couldn't get out of my mind. His voice wasn't Ash's either and that worried me. He said, "You are mine for the taking, princess." Then he licked my face and I screamed so much. Then it was over. I woke up.
I shake the thought out of my mind and smile for Ash, looking up at him.
"Never mind that. Can you stay in here with me until I fall back asleep?"
"Alright," Ash says softly.
He motions me to move over so that he could lay down next to me. He strokes my hair and kisses me on my forehead. I flinch away from him and he lets me go and goes to sleep. The next morning, I wake up under my blanket and Ash on top of it. I get up silently and go into his kitchen and brew some warm coffee. I grab one of the bananas out of his fridge.
Why am I even here? I just invited myself into his home and probably made him feel uncomfortable and forced into letting me stay.
I continue grabbing supplies and then set them all on the counter. I turn on the stove and make eggs with some pancakes. I set the syrup, ketchup, salt, pepper, eggs, and pancakes on the table along with two plates and two napkins then I walk upstairs to wake Ash up.
I walk into the guest room to find Ash still asleep.
"Ash, Ash wake up. Ash." He doesn't budge.
"Ash, get up. I made breakfast." Still no movement. I softly nudge him and he doesn't move a muscle. I give up and get up on the bed and collapse on it.
Finally, he's awake!
"Hey, I made breakfast."
"Oh, thanks," he says and then opens his eyes wide to wake up.
He looks perfect. But I can't get that dream out of my mind.
He pulls me down playfully and flips on top of me. I struggle to move as I am laughing so much.
I stop struggling and give up. He stops tickling me and plops on the bed next to me.
"Hey,..."
"Ya?" He asks, interrupting me.
"Seriously. Let's go have that breakfast I made. It's getting cold," I say, pouting.
"Alright."
He pulls me up. We go into the kitchen and sit down at the table silently. He looks up from his plate and smiles at me then continues to shovel food in his face.
"What happened to your parents?" I say, breaking the silence.
"What do you mean?"
"What happened to them? You never told me about it." I say, trying not to sound too pushy.
"They..." he stops.
"There was this burglar, you see, and he wanted my mother's priceless pearl necklace but she would not give it to him. He pointed the gun at my mother and my father jumped in front of her, trying to save her. The bullet came so hard that it went through him and killed my mother. The burglar looked at me, pointing his gun at me and pulled the trigger. Fortunately for me, his gun was out of bullets. He looked down long enough for me to scurry down the alley with my mother and father's wallets. I had enough money to make it out of town before anybody could find me and I saw this place. It was abandoned but looked wonderful inside. I cleaned it up and lived here ever since. Now it is my home, I have a job, a car, and now hopefully a... never mind."
"What? Tell me."
"A girlfriend." He said, slightly blushing.
"Oh."
Okay, I know what you're thinking guys. Kinda awkward and confusing. I just didn't know how to end it just right, so it came out kind of cringy. XD Again, sorry guys but if you liked my cringiness anyways, please go ahead and vote 4 this chapter. Just a hint for later in the book. Those are not his real memories. K, bye. :P
Thanks!
