We walk to his car in silence.

"Can you take me home? I don't have a car," I ask in a soft voice.

"If you don't have a car, then what are those keys hooked to your jeans for?"

That's when I remember, my father let me borrow his car.

"Crap, I actually drove here, sorry for asking. Maybe you can drive me when I don't have another person's car to take care of."

"You're cute when you're flustered."

He smirks down at me.

"How so?"

"Well, your voice is so light and I can detect a slight tone of frustration in it. Also, you blush furiously. Especially when you're around me."

I look down for a moment then let out a little laugh.

"Oh, you should see me when I'm really flustered."

"I want to see that, but I wouldn't want to do that on a nice cloudy day, with a goddess right next to me."

I smile, then blush even harder and I feel my heart beat a little bit faster. Ash pushes my hair behind my ear, puts his hand on my cheek, and leans in so close that I could kiss him if I want to.

"So, would you like me to walk you over to your car?" He asks, a knowing smirk falling onto his lips.

"Yeah."

I exhale, not knowing if it's in relief or disappointment.

"Alright, let's go."

He asks me when I would have time to get out and I tell him I'm grounded, but that maybe I could sneak out, just for his sake.

"We wouldn't want you to stop pining over me, now would we?"

It's my turn to smirk now. He is about to say something when he stops himself and laughs. He gives in and looks up at me.

"Okay, but if you get caught, it would be all my fault because I was the one who offered to go."

"Don't worry, I'm pretty stealthy," I say and nod.

"You are, are you?"

His smirk appears once more.

"I am. In fact, I've snuck out a few times, once in broad daylight."

Ash stops and pulls out a piece of paper and a pen from his pocket.

"You know you're the first person in a while who I've seen carry paper and pen in their pocket with them."

He chuckles and starts writing something down and then hands me the paper. I gently take it from him and look at it. I blush again.

"Call me when you get the chance to go out, okay?"

"We'll see." I smirk up at the man I very much want to kiss right now.

By the time we find my car, it starts to rain. All I'm wearing is a white sweater. He grabs my hand and twirls me around. I giggle then shiver. He frowns.

"Here take my jacket."

"No, it's fine. I will be alright," I say, shivering.

"Please, take it. You are going to freeze out here if you don't."

"Alright," I say, "but if you start to get cold, I am giving it right back."

I start dancing around in the rain.

"I think I will be just fine," he says, chuckling

"I think I will be just fine," he says, chuckling.

He stops me in my tracks and wraps his jacket around me and, to be honest, it's warm. Like really, really warm. I look up at him to see him smiling down at me. Like a genuine smile.

"You are amazing."

He puts one hand on my cheek, and the other around my waist. I look into his beautiful, blue eyes and practically melt. He leans in to kiss me but I turn away. I take his jacket off and give it back to him. I get in my car and start it. I watch Ash mope towards his car and then I drive off down the road.

Should I feel bad? I mean he tried to kiss me and I pulled away. No, you know what? If he really likes me he will wait until I feel comfortable around him. Right? Will he just give up and leave? Ugh. Do I even like this guy? He's sweet and caring and handsome and-

I stop when I hear things sizzling. I look around the interior of the car then out the windshield and see smoke coming out of the hood of the car. I sigh.

Crap. Nice car, dad.

I slowly stop the car when the damn thing brakes down and things pop and sizzle. I pull out that piece of paper and my phone and then dial Ash's number.

"Okay, it's ringing, which means it's on," I say to myself.

He answers.

"Kat?"

"Hey. My car just broke down, about five/ten minutes down the road? Can you come and get me?"

"Where are you?"

"On a dirt road, I don't know exactly where."

"Okay, I'll try to find you. See you soon."

I hang up the phone and look around to see where I am. I have never seen this place before.
