III.
This must've been how Eve felt after taking a bite of the forbidden fruit.
That's the thought that runs through Camila's head when she finds herself making out with Lauren Jauregui in the backseat of her car. She's halfway in Lauren's lap with Lauren's fingers in her hair and her tongue in her mouth and she feels a little bit intoxicated-head dizzy the way it was when she took her first sips of beer.
She doesn't know how she ended here, well, she does but a part of her is still in disbelief. It's been three days since Lauren's outrageous offer-more like, demand- and Camila's immediate reaction had been pushing Lauren away and running off.
Next followed excruciating hours of weighing her options. Her father would've told her that there was no such thing as 'a choice between to evils' for a faithful, believing Christian, but Camila feels like there is and she's caught right in the middle. She can either choose that the whole school, her friends and family finds out about her indiscretions, or she can continue the indiscretions with only God and the devil-she means Lauren-as her witness.
Deep down, she knows the right thing to do is not to once again fall victim to temptation, but fight against it and accept the consequences of her action. But she won't, because she's a coward and Lauren kisses leaves her weak, breathless and tingling to her fingertips.
"I don't know about you," Lauren mutters when she takes a break from Camila's lips to leave breathy, open-mouthed kisses on her neck instead. "But I could do this forever."
Camila won't admit it, but she feels the same. Her lips might be sore, but she wants more. She never understood couples that were always all over each other, kissing every time you saw them, but now she knows what she'd been missing.
She feels Lauren's fingers creep up under her skirt and that's when she gets half her mind back.
"What are you doing?" she asks startled and stops Lauren's hand by grabbing her wrist.
Lauren peers up at her and Lord, her eyes are devastatingly beautiful. The lipstick on her mouth is smudged and Camila suspects half of it is on her own face. "I want to make you feel good again."
"No. I can't. I have to get home."
Home. That's where Camila should be right now, if it hadn't been for Lauren practically snatching her off the street when she was on her way home from school and Camila's defenses crashed to the ground when Lauren's lips turned her to useless mush.
Panic rises in her chest when she checks her watch and realizes that she's been swapping spit with Lauren for nearly half an hour. Her parents are very strict about her coming straight home from school, and there's no doubt they're wondering where she went. As if on cue, her phone goes off, her mother's number flashing on the screen.
"Ignore it," Lauren urges and tries to get her back in her lap. "Don't leave yet."
"Are you insane?" Camila asks. "My parents are going to kill me!" She frantically finds her pocket mirror from her bag and is embarrassed by her puffy lips with Lauren's lipstick smeared all over and her slightly disarrayed hair. She reassembles herself fast and reaches for the car door.
Lauren cocks a brow. "Why? Because you're a little late?"
Camila glances at Lauren's nonunderstanding face and is reminded that they come from two different worlds. She has an inkling that Lauren goes and comes to her house whenever she feels like it. She shakes her head, not wanting or having time to explain and descends the car.
