The ride was a silent one. I was in shock and the image of what I saw was etched in my mind.  Dee hadn't uttered a word, so I assumed that he too was in a state of shock. I thought that he was going to retract himself from this disaster, because to me, that seemed like a good idea. He was just starting his family and he didn't deserve this sort of melodrama. My mind was preoccupied in the current disaster implemented by my stalker, and before I knew it, we were parking in front of my lawn.  I turned to Dee,
"I am sorry-"

Dee cut me off, and then proceeded to open the door. I followed his cue - maybe he wanted to get away from me as soon as possible and I didn't really blame him. I followed him to my house, and as I opened the door,

"Let's talk inside."

"Okay."

Mom was already asleep. She had to get to work early tomorrow. This was a good thing, as I didn't have to explain everything to her; frankly I wasn't ready yet. We took a seat on the sofa.

"I am so sorry Dee. I didn't mean to drag you into this mess. Just forget about everything and leave."

"What the hell are you talking about Dev?"

"You do realize what happened to your car right?"

"I do understand and that's why I think you should not be handling this psycho alone. I realize that this is much more serious than I had thought."

"Which is why it would be better if you stay out of it."

"No Dev. This is exactly why I should look into this. I have to help you - I need to. You are like my own sister, and I am not going to abandon you when you need me the most."

It was so reassuring to hear. I had thought that this psychopath had scared away Dee, but it had done the exact opposite. It had made Dee even more determined to find this guy.

"Now get some sleep. Make sure that all the doors and windows are locked. You can't be too safe. It's getting late, and I have to get to Lindsey. I will be in touch."

With that Dee left.
