Mike did not realize what Tina said, because of how happy he was that she was okay. "What did you say T?" "W-Who are you? Why are you calling m-me T? Where am I-I? What h-happened?" "T, its me Mike, you don't remember me?" "After an eternity which was really only a few seconds, something clicked. Mike's smile reappeared on his face. "Oh wait, M-Mike. I know you, you are H-Harry and Jenna's cousin. Where a-are they?" Goodbye smile. "I'll, uh go get them I guess."

As Mike walked out of that room, he had no intention of going back in. Not for a while at least. He could not bear to see her face.

"Jenna. Harry. She is awake and she wants to see you guys, I'm gonna... ah go home." "What do you mean you are leaving? You refused to leave her room since she got here and now she wakes up and you leave? Are you kidding me?" "Jenna please do not make me explain because she will, I am going home."

As Mike got into his car, he let the tears flow freely. Sure Mike had lost grandparents and stuff, even aunts and uncles, but none of those even came close to the love of his life not remembering him.

In Tina's room

"Hey T. How are you doing?" "I'm d-doing as good as I c-can. H-hey Jenna?" "Yeah T?" "Who was that g-guy in here before and w-why was he calling me T and holding m-my hand?" "Oh my god. Harry, she doesn't remember him, that's why he left." "W-who is he? Why should I r-remember him? Is he my friend?" "Umm, hold on T, let me go get a doctor." Jenna practically ran out of the room to call Mike.

Jenna's phone vibrated in her hand

Text from Mike: I'm assuming u found out y I left, update me on how she is doing, I will move all of her stuff back into ur house. Bye.

No matter how many times Jenna called him and texted him back she got no answer. Then she felt a hand on her shoulder. She turned around to see Harry. "Jen just let him be, this is really hard for him-" he was cut off by his phone vibrating, to see he had a call from Mike.

H- hey, you okay?
M- remember what I promised you?
H- what do you mean?
M- I said that if she ever didn't love me back I would let her be free, and you could have your chance, so here is your chance, she doesn't love me anymore.

Before Harry could respond Mike had hung up and turned off his phone.

"Harry what happened." "He told me that he was fulfilling his promise." "What do you mean?" "He said that if Tina ever didn't love him back, he would let her go so she could be happy, so he just told me to take my shot with her since she doesn't love him anymore."

Harry walked out of the room as the doctor approached Jenna.

"Hi, you needed me?" "Oh um ya Tina woke up, but she remembers everyone except her boyfriend." "Oh. You didn't tell her who he was right?" "No. Why?" "Because you have to let her remember on her own, I was afraid she would lose memory, but she will get it back, but it has to be on her own. You can show her pictures or movies or anything, but do not tell her who he is. She will remember no matter how long it takes." "How long do you think it will take because he is miserable." "It can take anywhere from a minute to 5 years. It really just depends."

5 years Jenna thought to herself. There is no way Mike could deal with that.

It has been a week, and Tina is out of the hospital, she is back in school, although she has a broken arm and leg. She is in glee club still, and remembers everyone, but no one knows about her forgetting Mike. He ya sheen out of school with 'mono' since the day he left the hospital. The thing he didn't realize before, was that Tina's stutter was back, and most likely permanent. He just thought her voice was scratchy from not talking.
