Chapter Twenty Two

    "Uhn..." Akira rubbed his eyes and yawned before sitting up in bed.

   'I feel weird...'

   "Good morning, love~"

   Akira turned and felt a kiss planted on his lips. Yusuke smiled at him and held his hands when he pulled away.

   "Happy birthday~"

   Akira made a sleepy smile and wrapped his arms around his lover.

   "Thanks..."

   Yusuke held out a stack of clothing to Akira.

   "Miss Erin has breakfast ready for you. Everyone is coming over later and we're going to do whatever you want. Is there something special you wanted to do?"

   "I... I just feel like going out and dancing..." Akira said shyly.

   "If that's what you want, love. Go on and get dressed, I'll be downstairs,"

   Yusuke kissed Akira on the forehead before going downstairs. Erin was happily flipping pancakes while singing to herself. Pico was on the floor with his toys and Morgana lounged beside him.

   "Morning, Yusuke! Are the birthday twins coming down yet~?" Erin asked.

   "Well I know Akira is," Yusuke said with a grin.

   Erin laughed and sent a smile to him. The artist sat on the couch close to Pico; the baby was currently babbling to himself as he stacked his blocks in a tower.

   "Can you believe it? Our leader is 18 years old today! He's really grown since you last saw him, hasn't he?" Morgana said.

   "Yes. I can see the maturity radiating off him..."

   Yusuke couldn't help but smile to himself. Pico's little block tower fell on Morgana, causing him to laugh and clap his hands. The cat flinched and jumped on the couch by Yusuke.

   "Anyway, what was it like in his Palace? It wasn't too much, was it?"

   "I wasn't a threat to him when I entered, but I feel that may change soon. And I didn't run into anything too strange, but of course I was only at the entrance," Yusuke explained.

   "Ok. That doesn't sound too complicated. I'm sure we'll get off to an easy start!" Morgana said proudly.

   Akira suddenly came downstairs, dressed and attempting to smooth his hair down.

   "There's the birthday boy~! Happy birthday, sweetheart~!"

   Erin embraced Akira in a warm hug. Pico got to his feet and ran to his brother to hug him.

   "Look at you! 18 years old! You're growing up so fast! What are you doing today?"

   "My friends are coming over and we're going to go out and dance," Akira said.

   "Ooh~! Will they be sleeping over? I'll make a cake and order some movies!" Erin said.

  Yusuke stood and went to hug Akira from behind while sending a smile to Erin.

   "That sounds great, you're so nice,"

   They started to get deep into the conversation about the birthday events. Pico got bored, and sucked his thumb, not really understanding what the adults were talking about.

   He decided to crawl upstairs and see what his sister was up to.

   The baby toddled down the hall with his tongue out, trying to hum the song Erin had been singing earlier. This was a big house, and he still wasn't used to it, but he was slowly starting to remember all the twists and turns.

   Pico heard a weird noise from one room and used his little hands to push the door open. Anesa was at her desk typing on her computer. She looked very distressed.

   "What the hell...? All of them are down...! Ugh!"

   Anesa started pulling up multiple photos on her computer, with both rage and joy in her eyes.

   "Well fine! We'll see how things go for you tonight, crybaby!"

   Pico didn't quite know what was going on in the photos, but he was smart enough to know they were bad things.

   "No no!"

   Pico pushed Anesa's leg and waved a finger at her before starting to babble a bunch of gibberish that sounded like he was scolding her. His sister looked at him sideways, made a playful grin, and ruffled his hair.

   "Hey baby bro~! What are you doing here~? Wishing big sis a happy birthday~?"

   Anesa sat him in her lap, but the baby started to fuss and tried to push her arms away. Anesa only laughed and kissed his cheek. Pico got frustrated and tried to hit the keyboard; maybe that would do something.

   "Don't do that!"

   Anesa held him away from the computer, only upsetting the baby more.

   "Geez, what's with you! Cut it out!"

   She huffed and carried Pico to the door, setting him outside.

   "Go bother the cat or something!"

   Anesa slammed the door. Pico started whining and hit the door. Erin came running up and picked him up.

   "What's the matter? Is your sister not letting you in~?" Erin knocked on the door. "Hey birthday girl! Breakfast is ready!"

   "I'll be out in a minute!" Came Anesa's reply.

   Erin rolled her eyes and started walking back to the stairs. Pico started to fuss more and kicked his feet.

   "What's wrong? Is it your diaper? I guess it's about time for your change..."

   Pico pouted and stuck his bottom lip out. He didn't know what his sister was doing but he knew it would make his brother upset.

   He hoped things would be ok...
