Chapter Seventeen

   Yusuke had to make an excuse to leave. He took Akira home, and told him he was going out to look for more art supplies. Akira almost protested, but Yusuke was able to get him to lie down for a nap so he could relax. When he was with Akira, Yusuke felt like he was a daddy caring for a really stubborn baby boy sometimes. But he didn't care much.

   When he got to Leblanc, everyone else was already there. Haru and Makoto were at a booth, Morgana was in Haru's lap, Futaba sat in the booth behind them, and Ann and Ryuji were in chairs. Across from Haru and Makoto was a man Yusuke could only assume was the therapist they had been looking for. As soon as he entered the man had a look of interest.

   "My, my. Yusuke Kitagawa, right?"

   "Y-Yes... Akira told you about me...?" He asked sitting in a chair by Ann.

   "Of course. He speaks highly about you all," He smiled. "Since you're all here now I should properly introduce myself. I'm Jaehyun, and I'm Akira's uncle,"

   "You're related! I never excepted that..." Ann said surprised.

   "I was his mom's older brother, but that was by marriage so he has no resemblance to me," Jaehyun explained. "Now then. What would you like to ask me first?"

   Makoto was the first to speak.

   "Is it true Akira and his sister don't have the same dad?"

   "That is true," Jaehyun said. "My sister had had an affair while she was engaged to Anesa's father, and ended up pregnant with Akira. My sister hid her pregnancy from her fiancé, then one thing lead to another and she was pregnant with Anesa at the same time as Akira,"

   "What was wrong with her. Isn't it dangerous to have sex while you're pregnant?" Ryuji said.

   "Very. But my sister didn't think about that, she was having a lot of mental problems at the time," Jaehyun adjusted his glasses before continuing to explain. "She didn't want her husband to find out about her affair, so she gave birth at a hospital and had Akira sent with his father without her husband finding out,"

   "So Akira's dad raised him all by himself...?" Futaba asked.

   "No, no. She had heavily considered abandoning them, but I didn't let her," Jaehyun frowned a bit. "I knew this would damage things with Akira, so I got her to agree to visit him and his father whenever possible. But, her mental damage was too much for her to handle, so she ended up going missing for months and then her body was found in a river..."

   Yusuke listened to every word with pain pushing his chest. He slowly opened his mouth to speak.

   "Did... something happen to Akira's father...?"

   "Sadly, yes..." Jaehyun said. "You see... Akira's father was heavily involved with the White Inu clan..."

   That caught everyone off guard.

   "What?! They were one of the most dangerous yakuzas around! How did he get mixed up with them?!" Ann cried.

   "Whoa... isn't that the thing when the leader lost his mind and had half of his members killed...?" Futaba asked.

   "His father was a member, yes. As for the rest, the clan did a lot of things that drove them to the brink of insanity... and it ended up causing Akira's father to commit suicide," The atmosphere was suddenly cold. "It was horrible... Akira was with him at the time. He was only seven years old... he came running to my house crying and saying his dad wouldn't wake up... I came over to find him dead on the bathroom floor..."
