Afternoon work...

After a lunch break, we started selecting a few group leaders and assigned juniors in different groups. A group was set to fix the broken tables and chairs and another was to paint the wall. The sun was already high when we started working. I was leading a group of civil engineering boys to repair the building. Most female juniors were responsible for light work and logistics such as bringing water, cutting grasses and painting the parts we have repaired. Everyone was sweating under the sun.

I asked my friend to bring me a hammer because I was now sitting on the rooftop. I shouted from above, "Anyone passes me a hammer." I was surprised and almost lost my balance when the guy who climbed up the ladder and gave me the hammer was nobody but ... Dr. Beam!

"Beam!!!!" I exclaimed

"Beam!!!!" I exclaimed. I was a little confused as what he was doing up here. The nature of this work was too dangerous for a sophisticated doctor like him. His hands was for handling scalpels and petri dish, not climbing up the ladder and carrying a hammer. I shouted, "Did I tell you to paint the wall or stay with the girls under the shade?" He pouted and angrily replied "Are you crazy? Do I look like a girl? I'll help you." It was so sweet that he wanted to help me out. But I did not want him to work under the sun and up here. His short sleeve exposed his smooth and perfect hands to the angry sunlight. I insisted that he worked inside the building, "You look rather tired. Go to take a break ... I can do it myself." Beam reacted angrily and said, "No way." As much as I wanted him to be my side, I was worried about his safety. I raised my voice and said, "Damn it. Do not be so stubborn. The sunlight will ruin your face." He finally gave up and started climbing down, "Alright. I'll go down now."
