Chapter 18

I woke up the next morning and got dressed. Claudia, Ryan, and Leon were coming over to discuss how to keep Kendall and I safe at my birthday party. Now that we knew the plans of Henry, Neal, and Kendall's parents, we were even more prepared then before. I heard a knock at my door. Diego stood in the hallway.

"Miss Vivian, I came to tell you that breakfast is ready."

"Okay, I'll be down in a minute." He nodded. I picked up a few pencils, but they fell on the floor, out of my hand. I bent down to pick them up. Diego looked like he wanted to help. I put them back on the shelf. "Diego, if you want to enter my  room, you can."

"A man must never enter a lady's room, unless they are together." He declined my offer. I walked into the hall. Diego held out his arm

"May I escort you downstairs?" He asked. I was definitely not used to this.

"Yea." I hooked my arm in his. We got downstairs and Diego pulled out my chair for me. When my mom came downstairs, he did the same for her.

"Thank you, Diego." She said.

"It's no trouble, Miss Cynthia." He replied. She seemed a little surprised by how much of a gentleman he was too. Kendall came into the house and sat at the table.  He said good morning to my mom and smiled at me. Vincent entered shortly after.

"Hello everyone." He smiled. My mom looked away.

"Hey." I greeted him. He went to talk to Diego.

"Claudia, Ryan, and Leon will be here soon." Kendall announced.

"Okay." I replied. My mom looked a little skeptical about meeting more vampires. "Don't worry. They're friendly."

"Easy for you to say. All supernatural creatures seem to love you."

"More like fascinated." I murmured. Kendall and I ate breakfast. About an hour later, we heard a knock at the door. I answered it. Claudia, Ryan, and Leon stood on the other side. They smiled at me.

"Hey Vee." Ryan greeted me. Claudia and Leon did too.

"Come in. Make yourself at home." I let them inside. They sat on the couch. Diego entered. Ryan stood and rushed to hug him.

"Diego, what brings you here?" Ryan asked.

"I'm here because Henry and Neal are going after Kendall and Miss Vivian on her 17th birthday. I want to help defend them." Diego explained.

Ryan turned to Vincent. "Can we be of any help to you?"

"That's what I was going to ask you." Vincent admitted.

"We'd be happy to help." Claudia offered.

"Thank you." Vincent smiled at them.

"When does this happen?" Leon asked.

"In less than a week." Kendall replied.

Later on, everyone drifted apart.  My mom, Vincent, Leon, Claudia, and Kingsley were in the kitchen. Diego, Ryan, Kendall, and I sat on the couch in the living room. Ryan and Diego talked about fighting. Kendall put his arm around me. We listened to them talk. They turned to us and smiled.

"Will you fight with us, Vee?" Ryan asked.

"I could mentally." I replied.

"What about physically?" Diego asked.

"No." Kendall responded for me.

"I bet she could do something." Ryan pushed on.

"No. She might get hurt." Kendall protested.

"She needs to be able to defend herself." Ryan argued.

"She can do that mentally."

"What if Henry tries to hurt her?" Ryan asked.

"I'll defend her." Kendall wouldn't give in.

"If you think you can." Diego sighed. It was clear they disagreed with him. I, however, haven't decided if I should fight or not. I needed to defend myself, but I wasn't much of a fighter. Diego and Ryan continued to talk about the possible battle with Henry and Neal.
