American Pie

I have to give it to them, my people have evolved

But all the time I've been alive I've only seen 'em devolve

I mean we've improoved - some even celebrate gay day!

And yet here we are, still waiting for pay day

My mom, my dad, my brother, sister and friends

They keep working 12/7 but it never ends!

All we want is a slice of that American pie,

But then comes the tought of workin' 'till we die

When you're in this state you can only try

Try, fail, try again not to break down and cry

And even if you get there, you gotta ask yourself "why?"

Why are people doing this to themselves?

Do they want tourment?

Well that's not how deep it delves

When you're in a place like this

A place you'd never miss

If you somehow managed to leave

It would take a while to inweave

The American lifestyle into your mind

'Til then you're basically running around blind

So welcome to the land of the free

You'll have to fight for a peace of bread

Until you can properly pay your fee

You can't? Well then fight till you're dead

You don't matter if you haven't got the greens

Try to make your pocket heavy by all means

You start selling everything you have to anybody

Anybody with cash, 'till all you have is your body

Let's hope it's a good one-if so-you got more to sell

Giving your dignity's no biggie under the green spell

And once you're stipped of all pride

And you think you can finally provide

The greens can't fill the empty hole

Where there once was a naive soul

Tempted by the red, white and blue

You wasted all for nothing, so what to do?

Now you can just break down and cry

Enjoy your slice of the American pie.

-The end-

-This is kind of true to my country. Okay, VERY true. So I was more passionate when writing this. I hope things get better.
