CHAPTER FIFTEEN

Nothing could prepare my eyes for what I was seeing. We were driving up the coast line of the most gorgeous exotic beach I had ever seen. The tide carried in massive waves of sea foam that sparkled in the setting sunlight. The airplane ride had taken longer than I had expected, and the entire ride Dallas had sat next to me not once disclosing the location we were going. I still wasn't allowed to know even when we got there. This bothered me a little but I knew it was for my own good if I wanted to stay safe and keep everyone back home safe.

"We're here."

Those words didn't register in my mind as we pulled up along side a massive beach front house. I could tell we would be doing a ton of training since we were literally surrounded by water.

The house was intricate, it was three stories tall at least. It had a wraparound porch that completed the homey feeling to the house.

"This is where we're staying?" I asked, my mouth agape in blatant awe. I wouldn't mind living here for, oh I don't know, the rest of eternity.

"Yep. I'll have someone get our bags, I want to show you something first."

Dallas led me out onto the steps of a boardwalk that led directly to a beach. It was crystal clear blue and the sun was beating down in beautiful rays that scattered rainbows across the mysterious waters.

He led me by my hand to the waters edge. I quickly kicked my vans off and relished the feeling of the small tide wrapping itself around my bare ankles. It rushed at me with a clear determination to drench me, but it seemed to divert between Dallas and I whenever it started to get too high. I wondered how it was doing that, but then I remembered Dallas' powers and that quickly answered my questions.

"This is what I'll teach you first. Concentrate in your mind on what you want to happen. If the water looks like it will be higher than your ankles, command it in your mind to avert course. In your mind say the word, 'Veet' and give it a forceful thought, almost like you're screaming in your mind. Never take your eyes off the water as you think it. Now try."

He made it seem so simple. Well, here goes nothing. I waited for the tide to come rushing back at me and screamed in my head, Veet.

The water rose high above my ankles, almost reaching the white denim booty shorts I had on. Crap.

"That's okay, I realize that you won't be skilled in every element right away. You are a natural with wind, electricity and fire. Most of the time, water is a peaceful element, and Chaos was not created for peace. Just imagine it going out of control and this is you having to stop it. You seem to work better when everything's in, well, chaos. Let's try again."

He spoke with such conviction, I had to believe him. He moved from beside me to stand behind me and softly touched my shoulders and soft tingles shot through my body.

"Just concentrate. Clear your mind and just picture it."

I did what he said and the second time I spoke the word in my head, the wave was a big one. Like almost above our heads. He had moved us farther into the water without me knowing, diverting the waves himself. Now it was my turn, and if I didn't do this right, we'd be soaked.

The wave almost shuddered at my inward command, even the foam glinting in the water seemed to fear me. It was like Noah parting the Red Sea, only on a smaller scale. And I was no Noah. The water harmlessly scathed past us and when it receded I quickly ran from the shoreline to get away from the water, not wanting to get wet. I certainly couldn't hold off waves while walking away. I didn't have that much concentration.
