CHAPTER TWENTY-TWO
Mixed emotions. That was the feeling that encompassed me the entire time I was in my first training session with Faye, the girl who controls the peaceful winds.
She suggested that we start with yoga, strength training, and relaxation techniques to calm and focus us, but focus seemed to be the enemy of me at that moment in time.
Images of Elias kept crowding my already overwhelmed brain, and the thoughts zipping around in my head surely didn't help it one bit.
"Kristen! If you're not going to pay attention and keep drooling over Dallas be my guest, but I actually want the Brotherhood to survive whatever the dark Mystics have in store for us."
"Dark Mystics? Who are they?"
Faye looked as if she had just forgotten she wasn't supposed to have said anything to me about that. Her eyes widened in almost fear. Fear of what though, I had no clue.
"I wasn't supposed to...I-I'm sorry, but please...if you tell him I told you, he'll never forgive me!"
"Whoa, Faye, calm down! Tell who?"
"Dallas! He said not to tell you because you would get worried!"
That was odd...I knew Dallas didn't tell me everything, but something like this? I barely even knew what it was but it was obviously something that was a threat to the Brotherhood. One that would worry me.
"Faye. Who are they?"
I said the last part as a statement to get my point across that I was not playing around.
"They are the ones who teamed up with the last reincarnation of Chaos before you. They used her powers to bring catastrophe to the earth, but before they could do anything too serious, we stopped them. We killed at least forty-five men. They didn't have elemental powers on their side. They are once Brotherhood Mystics that turned evil so they could have more power. At least, that's what he promised them."
Now when she mentioned a he, that's when my interest piqued.
"Who? Who promised them?"
"Elias Cordovelema. A particularly evil old Brotherhood member who fell in love with one of your past selves. Of course, Dallas had already sworn himself to her, so she was off limits. That's what turned him to begin with. But not he's power hungry and blood thirsty. Anyway, we need to get back to training or else when another tornado comes it's going to suck you up like Elias tried to do to you when you first encountered your powers at your school."
"He did WHAT?!"
My sudden outburst surprised us both, but I genuinely needed to know that previous knowledge she just shared with me was false. Please don't let it be true. Please.
"He tried to force you into his world. He is an Ether, world building is his talent. And he can live there and be sustained on no food and let other people live there as well."
So many things could come from a new world. World hunger, eradicated. Global warming, destroyed. Elias could save the world by moving everyone to another one. It was incredulous.
"Wow...all this time I just thought I was crazy."
We both shared a laugh and then got back to training because I needed to improve my powers for more reasons than one.

Later that night I wandered into the room beside the dining room that looked like a living room posing as a makeshift library.
