Is it impossible to throw your trash and recyclables in your trash and recycling bin?! NO, ITS NOT! Let me tell you a true story from my life. This happened recently and I got very annoyed. One day, as my bus dropped me off at my stop, I was walking home when I saw that one of the other kids that gets off at my stop threw AN ORANGE at the side of my bus, and left the remains on the busy street. At this point, I was already on my deck, about to go inside, until I saw it happen. So, what did I do? Did I stand idly by as I watched it happen right in front of my face? No, I didn't. I dropped my backpack, and went to a patch of grass that was in my neighbors yard that was near the street, and as soon as the coast was clear, I ran to the middle of the road, quickly picked up the remains of the thrown orange, and ran back to the grass, then threw the orange in my own trash. The next day, I confronted the kid who threw the orange about what I did and they claimed that they were going to do it after they got home. This was a complete lie and everyone knew it. I may seem like a really good person from the story I just told, but I'm not. If I was a really good person, I would pick up the trash that's left on my street. But I don't. I don't know why I don't, I despise myself for not doing anything, but I walk along as if nothing is wrong. To make it worse, I point out the litter, but don't do anything about it. I would play a game with my friends to point out every fireball whiskey we saw on my street. It's surprising to see how many there are, and then we ignore it, and go on our way. So, why am I telling you this if I want you to help clean the planet? Well, I'm saying this because if people weren't so lazy (or so drunk *cough, cough*) and actually picked up after themselves we wouldn't have this issue, now would we? I know we have the wondrous holiday of Earth Day, but let's be real, I have NEVER seen people go out and clean the Earth (And of you do help clean the Earth, thank you so much for saving every living species). All anyone does is stay inside. So, on Earth Day, gather with friends, family, or even neighbors, and clean as much as you can. Once you're done doing that, make it a weekly thing. Every *insert day of the week that's good for you here* you go out and clean up other people's mess. I know it doesn't sound "fair" if YOU are cleaning SOMEONE ELSE'S mess, but, when you think about it, it's EVERYONE'S job to keep the ecosystem alive, to keep the Earth alive, because if you don't, it'll be gone before you know it. I'm not saying people should pick up your mess, but I am saying that you should contribute in saving the world, and becoming a hero. So, what I'm basically saying is...
Be Captain Planet.
