| chapter three: bad mood |

Elena carefully walked down to the basement, she frowned as she spotted a empty blood bag and felt dread fill her body. Nikolai was behind her but she couldn't count on him to keep her safe.
She was horrified to find Rose on the cold floor, blood smearing her face as her hands where grasping a blood bag. What scared her the most was how Rose watched her intensely before muttering the name Katerina.

Nikolai just watched as Rose went after Elena and the two made their way upstairs. He sighed before hurrying after them, knowing the Gilbert girl would need his help. As he spotted them Elena was yanking back a curtain, making sunlight burn Rose's skin. It was a smart move actually but he would never tell her that.

Knowing Rose would go after Elena again he grabbed her arm and dragged her upstairs to the first possible room and locked the door.

"You okey? She didn't bite you right?"
Nikolai asked, seeing as the girl looked rather pale and terrified.

"N-no, I don't think so."
Elena answered and slid down to the floor of Damon's room while panting slightly.

"Not to make you think I care about explaining things to you but Rose isn't herself, wolf bites makes vampires have hallucinations and other side affects you could say. That's why she believes you where Katherine."

Elena glanced at him and nodded, seconds passed and Rose knocked on the door and spoke shakily.

"Don't you dare open."
Nikolai spoke as a conflicted look was on the doppelgängers face. Shockingly she listened to him and he was rather astonished that she actually made a good decision for once.

Minutes had passed and Elena just hung up after calling Damon.

"Can I ask you something Nikolai?"
She asked while standing across the room, still holding her phone. He didn't answer and she took that as a yes.

"How do you know Katherine, why are you so fond of her? You seemed to hate the fact that she's still in the tomb."

"I met her some months after I was turned, she helped me get a sunlight ring and taught me about what I had become.
Due to being on the run from Klaus she didn't stay long with me, but long enough for us to know we would need each other later on. I don't know anything about Klaus, she never told me anything other then that she was on the run from a dangerous man so don't ask for information about him. And yeah I'd rather have Kat with me then stuck in a cave."

Nikolai spoke and she nodded, he didn't like talking about the past but he was never one to hide things or keep quiet and he liked the truth. Even if he sometimes could be a manipulative liar.

"I thought that whoever turns someone into a vampire helps them trough the transition?" Elena said in confusion.

"It usually is like that but the man who turned me wasn't exactly kind, he bit me and made sure I became a vampire then left."

"Why?"

"How should I know? It's not exactly like he gave me his number so I could ask."
Nikolai muttered, his tone bitter.

"I'm sorry."

"I will kill you Elena if you even for a second think that I need your stupid self  to pity me."

The conversation ended there and the two kept quiet until the raven haired vampire showed up. Damon seemed to notice the sour mood but choose to ignore it and focus on the bitten vampire who wasn't in the house anymore.

The three hurried to the school, Nikolai didn't even know how they figured out Rose was there but he didn't care much.
Elena and Damon was worriedly talking with each other and he checked out the  stands. Apparently there was this barbecue thing Caroline had talked about and he wanted food.

"Hey guys I'm gonna go and look if they got cotton candy, I'll let you know if I see a psycho vampire...other then myself that is." Nikolai spoke and entered the crowd of people, he usually hates anything related to school but it was worth entering the mass of people if he could get cotton candy. Other then blood he liked eating sweet things.

And speaking of sweet things, he spotted a certain blue eyed boy and hurried over to him.

"Matt, sweetheart." He spoke and smiled as he draped an arm over the blonde's shoulder.

The two talked for a while then Matt ran off to find Caroline, leaving Nikolai alone. He'd looked for cotton candy but was sad to figure out they weren't selling any.

Elena and Damon had apparently left, not sticking around to ask if he needs a ride or anything. He stood outside Mystic Falls high school and found himself being in a bad mood and to remind you, nothing good happens when a vampire with rather bad issues is in a bad mood.
