| chapter fifteen: satisfaction |In Nikolai's eyes, high school was a huge waste of time. He had never been fond of the concept of school and never would be. The whole thing was dreadful and he'd rather chop of his own arm then go a full school day ever again.
He felt nauseous as he entered the large building, finding every part of it completely revolting. He glared at everyone and everything he passed, rolling his eyes at some gawking girls. It was not that he felt that he was above them, in his eyes they were just stupid. He spotted the plastic cups that littered the floor and knocked some over, knowing he shouldn't but not being able to help himself. He wondered what was so exciting about senior prank night, finding placing cups in school quite a bore.
He could feel his patience run out of his body as soon as he opened the door, finding almost the whole Scooby gang in the small classroom. Caroline greeted him with a large smile and he made an annoyed grimace back. When he scanned over the room he noticed the blonde boy in the back and his lips automatically curved into a pleased smile. He could catch the small look of terror that flickered trough Matt's eyes and quickly connected the dots, Matt knew what he was.
He wasn't shocked, a little bit dumbfounded since he thought the entire population of the town already knew of the badly kept secret that involved immortality and fangs. He thought the sweet boy would have more of a backbone, but clearly he didn't since he quickly scurried out of the room with frightened eyes.
"What are you doing here?" Elena asked, her tone was kind but he took the question as a hostile one.
"What is it to you?" He huffed, smiling at her offended face. He thrived on it, that specific shocked look she would get on her face whenever he insulted her. It seemed like every time she expected him to not be mean, it was hilarious.
"Nikolai, go and be helpful." Caroline hissed with pointed eyes and he stick his younger out at her like the immature person he was.
Nikolai had an itching feeling under his skin as he leaned against the wall. He knew that there were something that was about to happen, he just didn't know what. Although it was an annoying feeling, it was also a slightly exhilarating one. He felt like he was waiting for something bad to happen and it made adrenaline rush trough his veins every time he thought of it. He was itching for something to happen, needing something to happen before he would die of boredom.
It reminded him of one of his earlier kills, he had been frustrated and irritated for several days and was just eating for it to boil over. He had snapped when a boy he'd never met before made a snarky comment, he hadn't just killed him, he had brutally and painfully killed the boy and enjoyed every second of it. The boy's cries had been like music to his ears, music that was later drowned out by wretched screams and his own hysterical laugh.
After the kill the exhilarating feeling was gone and he found himself quite empty, then he began to think of the next one, and the one after that.It was something about the hunt, the waiting that was awfully pleasing for Nikolai. He loved the hunt almost as much the kill, the tension and the waiting fueling his urge kill even more. After the first kill he didn't want to stop, before the first kill he had at least pretended that he didn't want to hurt people but when he lost his human life and became immortal it was a sign, a sign that he was not human nor would ever be. He was more killer then vampire, the freak of nature thing only worked as a weak excuse.
His knuckles had turned into tight fists and he could feel the urge to do what he wanted, finding it hard not the snap and tear everyone into tiny pieces.
He watched as Elena left the room, inwardly cursing at the girl for not making it easier for him.Mere seconds passed until he heard Elena's panicked voice along with another, one that made his lips curve into a smirk.
"Why are you smiling like that?" Tyler asked confusedly, snapping Nikolai out oh his gazed state.
"Nothing." Nikolai spoke, his usually bitter tone awfully chirpy as he ventured out of the room. He could hear Caroline hurrying behind him and sighed, knowing the walking moral compass wouldn't let him have fun.
"Nikolai! What's going on?" Caroline asked with a suspicious tone.
"Crybaby's in trouble." He spoke in a sing song voice, happily making his way down the hall. The thought of watching the hybrid kill made a strange chill travel down his spine, he found the sight oddly arousing . He couldn't quite figure out what he wanted with the man, but he knew wanted something.
"Little vampire, just in time for the show." The man that clouded Nikolai's mind spoke, the thick accent making his smirk turn into a wide smile.
Finally, some fun.
