After we had decided to finally get up, which didn't happen very soon since we're lazy and such, I crawled over a sleeping Grover and slipped into the dewy grass. I took a sudden breath in, "Cold."
I heard another chuckle behind me. Harry, shirtless and in boxers, stood and stepped over Grover, then jumped to the ground and kissed the top of my head.
"C'mon, we should head home," he whispered into my hair. I leaned into him and hummed an agreement.
Harry leaned away from my body to grab a blanket and hand it to me. I curled up in it and looked at him thankfully.
"Wake up Grove, will you?" he asked as he walked to the front of the truck, never looking away from my eyes. I nodded and began to shake the snoring lump.
"Grovie! Honey, wake up we're going home," I leaned close to him and baby talked him for a while. I knew that Harry would make fun of me if he heard my baby talk to Grover.
A thumping against the floor of the truck started, signaling Grover's wake.
"Mornin, baby! C'mon we gotta go, Harold is waiting," I whispered into his ear.
"Noelle!" Harry called. I kissed the top of Grover's head and motioned for him to get off of the truck. He did as I asked and I closed the back of the truck.
I skipped to the front window and looked at Harry, "Where'd you put my shoes?" Harry motioned toward the sand near the lake. I turned back to give Harry a smile and then skipped to go get the shoes.
Then the police sirens started.
I ignored them at first. Sirens happen all the time.
Harry, however, stressed out and started the truck. "Noelle, hurry up, please!"
I turned away from the beach, skipping backwards, and stuck my tongue out at him.
But the sirens didn't stop.
"Noelle!"
Sharp butterflies flew throughout my stomach. I turned back to Harry, but my eyes flew to the red and blue lights flashing urgently.
"Noelle!" Harry screamed louder. I turned back to him, and saw pure horror in his eyes.
I looked back at my shoes, but decided against it, and ran to the car. Harry looked back and forth from me to the lights, more terror filling both of us up.
The noise became louder second by second. Harry looked back at me a final time."Go."
I looked at him, mentally willing him to help me in the car so we could leave this nightmare.
"Go!"
Tears welled up in my eyes, but I turned and fled into the forest.
