"Noelle, what happened to your ankle?" Harry asked, his eyes widening at the size and color of the knob on my leg.
"I'm fine," I whispered. Harry shook his head.
"You are so not, Noelle, you have a fucking elephant on your ankle!" he yelled. Grover stood behind him, wagging his tail furiously. He barked, and Harry turned back at him and shushed him.
"Noelle we need to take you to a hospital," Harry said, picking me up. I wrapped my arms around his neck and took in his smell.
"I don't want to argue with you, Harry, but the police are looking for me everywhere. We got enough suspicions when I got bitten by Grover. Harry, we have to go somewhere else."
Harry hummed in response. I became limp on his shoulder.

"Damn, this stuff is good! Liddy, where'd you get it?" I asked as I took in another breath of the stub.
Liddy's giggles became the center of attention in the small room. Her pixie cut turned a fluorescent purple in the black lights. Everyone had agreed that getting high was better when in different settings than daily life.
"She got it from that guy downtown, you know? Carlos? He has the best shit," Stephanie said. I groaned at her reply. As much as I liked our group together I hated Stephanie with a passion. She wasn't like the rest of us. It was like she was Sandy and we were the Pink Ladies. She didn't belong.
I took another huge whiff of the drug and began to feel lighter. I could do anything.
"Anyways, do you guys know Harry?" Stephanie asked. I looked around the room, hoping to catch someone's eyes and share the pain of the girl that always brought the attention to herself even though no one liked it. I met Liddy's bright blue and green eyes, but they just showed sadness.
"Harry who?" I asked. I looked away from Liddy and stared right at Stephanie. She stared right back, daring me to say something.
"Harry Styles."
There were muffled giggles around the room and light talk. I couldn't tell if it was because of the drugs or because of what Stephanie had just said.
Harry and I had gone on a few dates, but he hadn't popped the question of us at all. It seemed that we were just kind of friends. Everyone knew that we had a thing, we were an item, but Stephanie ignored the rules and changed then to what she wanted.
"Yeah, I've seen him around. What about him?" I asked. I was clueless about what she was about to say. I had taken a few guesses, but I refused to think any of them were true.
"We fucked." She looked away from me and grabbed a cherry from a bowl we all shared in the center of our circle. She took a drag and passed the stag on, but didn't exhale. She took a bite of the cherry and bit into it, as if the smoke was chocolate. She was daring me.
I knew how to deal with this.
"How was he?" I questioned. Her eyes popped up back at me. She hadn't been expecting me to know what to do.
She stumbled on her words, "I mean, he was great... He um, we, I mean I gave him a blow job and um-"
"Oh. Let me guess he returned the favor, right?"
She stared at me. I could see things that no one else could see in her eyes. Fear.
"Listen bitch, we all know that you don't belong here. You try to be that good-girl-gone-bad, but we know you. We know the real you."
She was trying to stay strong, trying not to cry.
I raised my voice, "You don't like any of this. You don't like the sex. You don't like the drugs. You don't like the people. So why don't you quit being the shit that you're trying to be and go back to your goody-goody grades and family? Sound good, Steph?"
There were tears in her eyes now. I laughed. Because I'm stronger than her, and I'm the leader of this pack, and I deal with enough shit at home, and I was done with her shit here.
"You can leave now." I said. I had never released eye contact with her. She let out a whimper before she got up and left the room.
Then there was silence. Only the slow drags of one of the girls broke it every few seconds.
Liddy looked at me, and clapped. She clapped and clapped and soon a few other girls cheered in.
"We all hated the shit out of her!"
"I'm so fucking glad she's gone."
"What a glorious day!"
I basked in the cheering. This is why I'm here.
~
"Noelle."
Harry shook me awake. I hummed against his shoulder.
"Just a few more minutes," I mumbled. Harry chuckled softly.
"Not with an ankle like that. I want you better."
He got out of the car, leaving my head to fend for itself. I fell towards his side of the seat and jumped back up as I realized I was falling. Harry opened the door. I groaned as the cold air stroked my skin. I opened up my arms as if I was a child waiting to be taken inside the home of safety by a loving parent.
"Grove, stay, we'll be right back." I smiled into Harry's shirt at the love in his voice.
I was half asleep the entire time that I was being helped. I felt high after the dream I had, and the feeling didn't really go away.
I wondered if Stephanie wasn't lying. Maybe they did have sex. Was it wrong of me to yell at her like that?
And then I remembered how good it felt to yell at her and it all went away.
~
I woke up the next morning back at home. Harry was asleep next to me, holding me close. His soft snoring put me back to sleep.
When I woke up again Harry was gone. I walked to the bathroom, took a quick shower, and as I was putting on one of Harry's shirts, I heard Grover barking his heart out.
"Grover shut up, it's nothing!" I yelled back. I pulled on a pair of my old jeans as quick as I could and walked impatiently to see what was wrong.
The front door opened and Harry came sprinting inside the house. He was breathing hard and mud and grass covered his shirt and jeans.
"We need to go."
