Nothing happens he tugs again and again he's confused, why isn't it working? How could the blade be dull? Then he realizes what the last line in the note meant"my love won't be used to harm you" she did this she dulled the blade after cutting her wrist. She knew he would do this no matter her pleas she knew he wouldn't be able to live without her. He doesn't know how to feel, ashamed that he disobeyed her or loved because of her actions. He doesn't know how to feel but he knows that he still can't live without her the blade may have been to dull to cut his wrists but he could still pierce his heart. So he turns the point towards his heart and thrusts. It hurts so badly he knew it would but he wasn't prepared for the pain. He lay there slowly dying hoping to see his love once again, hoping she would forgive him.
