Rose's POVI was awoken by the constant vibration on my bed
I reluctantly opened my eyes to find my phone's screen lit up
I didn't need to check to know who was calling, there was only one person who would call me by this time of the day
'Market woman' I answered as I put the phone to my ear rubbing my eyes
Business woman I prefer M.J replied
Are you ready yet??
For ............I slurred but instantly remembered
Don't worry I'll get ready I said
What! she shrieked, you are not ready by 6:30 for a 9 O'Clock interview in this Lagos with the traffic or have you forgot......
'Calm down Mary' I cut in
I'll get there in time, it's not like as if I can possibly go late with the amount of people interested in this job
And I might most certainly not get it so why fuss so much
'Awww'...... Mary said 'never loose hope my dear', now ger your lazy ass out of bed and to that interview she added and hung up.O'Brian & Sons Construction & Development Co. popularly referred to as O.C.D.C has been one of the biggest construction companies in Africa for the past three generation started by Brian Adelaide as 'Brian constructions' passed on to his son Oluwole Brian and later inherited by his grandson Nelly O'Brian, bachelor billionaire and business mogul well known for his over inflated ego and untamed tongue but also his strong business sense and ethics, having graduated from M.I.T and later attended Harvard business school,
Nelly O'Brian was on a class of his own when it came to business men in Africa.
I knew all there was to know about this company's history which was why as I approached the french doors at the company's entrance by 8:55 for my interview I was almost certain that I wouldn't get the job
After all to be one of the best in Africa you had to hire the best I guessed as I approached the receptionist with glasses almost as big as a pocket mirror.Good morning am here for the interview' I said
Upstairs second hallway by the left
she said without looking up from her computer.
I located the hallway and got myself settled in on a seat to wait my turn
then I noticed
there was not too many people seated here for the interview but the day before there had been a lot of applicants
I enquired from the girl seated beside me whose skirt was a little too short for the occasion if she knew the reason for this and
She answered, gesturing with her hands as she spoke
'Hmm.... my sister they have gone o they say the man did not ask most people any question he just looked at their CV and dismissed them'
'He even stated before nine, hmm.....the man is harsh o' she added
As I pondered over the information I had just gotten
I heard someone call out my name
'Rose Long-John'
"Yes" I answered
Mr O'Brian will see you now she replied and almost immediately was gone
Mr O'Brian?? I thought
Oh my God!
my heartbeat rate kicked up a notch
As I made my way to the door and knocked.
