A Rose For Nelly

Chapter 2

Rose's POV

As I made my way inside the bank with M.J following close behind I cussed under my breathe
"Who's idea was it to come to the bank" on a Monday morning anyways
M.J noticed the distress on my face and patted me on the back just as we approached the already growing queue
Within a few minutes we were lost in a world of our own
Talking and laughing as M.J narrated to me her daily experiences in the world of small scale businesses in Nigeria, using her hand to demonstrate as she talked
Then suddenly she stopped and I noticed a well dressed man standing beside her with a scornful look on his face and almost immediately he said
"Can't you apologize or did you not just notice that u hit someone"
"apologize for what exactly" Mary answered, I had my back to you which means you walked right into me, if anyone should be apologizing it is you".
She stated
I didn't quite understand what they were bickering about but all the whilst Mary was speaking I kept gesturing her with my hands to calm down because I knew just how smart mouthed Mary could get
I could too myself to be truthful but not in situations like this
Once Mary had stopped speaking
the young man looked at me and said 'so you're like what the sidekick who can't tell her friend the truth, telling her to calm down when she's clearly in the wrong
You know what he added
'I don't have time for this'
and with that he walked away.

Nelly's POV

As I walked out the bank and got into my car I couldn't help but think about the event that had taken place after my meeting with the bank manager
'girls can be so unbelievable' I thought
imagine the nerve of that girl speaking to me the way she did
I only left cos I noticed that people
where beginning to stare, especially the employees who knew too well who I was
And her friend oh! my gosh
I rolled my eyes inwardly
remembering those beautiful brown eyes and curvy figure
You could almost say she was the perfect description of my type of girl
except for her personality of course
I mean what was it with her
acting as though, if she spoke and told her friend she was wrong all hell would break loose
Maybe for her because her friend could damn well not do anything to me
I scoffed and shook my head
"pathetic" I said out loud
they were both clueless as to who I was and what I could do

As I brought my car to a stop in my personalized space in the company's parking lot,
I noticed an unusual busyness on
the company grounds
When I got inside the building I asked Nora the receptionist what all the fuss was about and she said
" Sir its people coming to enquire about the job opening, we're hiring for"
We're hiring?! I blurted out before I could stop myself
She nodded with a confused look on her face
I waved her off and walked away
I would have to speak to someone about this
Once I got upstairs I ordered Diane, my secretary to fetch me Mr Richard.
