Nelly's POV
I had been sitting in my office for about 20 minutes now when I heard a knock on the door
'Yes' I replied
the door swung open and Richard entered,
He was the C.F.O of my company and had been a close friend of my father, he was as loyal as they came, well until now I thought,
making decisions behind my back didn't spell loyalty
Once he was seated I bombarded him with a thousand and one questions as to why we were hiring and how I just only heard about it this morning.
He answered elaborately
taking his time to explain how the board had thought that was the right thing to do, with the aim of relieving me of some of my too many responsibilities by appointing a finance consultant to handle financial obligations especially the endless trips to the bank and meeting with managers
Which was the reason why I had in the past weeks moved the board meetings around more than a few times
"And even this morning it was again cancelled because you did not show, which we later found out from your secretary was because of yet another bank meeting" he said"
He spoke again, and almost immediately said something that caught my attention
" the board decided to let u pick "
'What!' I replied
They thought you would be in the best position to interview the applicants and recommend a few from which of course the new financier would be chosen by consensus at the next board meeting
That is of course if you want to do it sir, he added
"Of course" I answered almost immediately
As I thought, if I couldn't find a worthy financier to employ then maybe they would all let go of this crazy idea of me delegating some of my financial obligations that they had been suggesting for God knows how long
He stood up to leave and turned around just as he got to the door
'One more thing sir' he said
"What" I answered looking up from my computer
'The interview is tomorrow' he replied
And quickly walked out the door
before I could think of a response
I stared into the glass ceiling of my office
And blurted out the only reply I could think of
"What the hell".
