SHE'S SO PRETTY, YOU TWO LOOK SO GREAT.

The next day, it was like nothing that night ever happened. Richie and Beverly were currently making out, in homeroom.

Can't they get a room? God damn, no one wants to see this shit.

Eddie scowled and turned his head to look out the classroom window. The rain poured hard, becoming harsher by the second. There was a storm warning in Derry, but the schools were so shitty that the kids were forced to go until the actual storm came.

Eddie was annoyed and his patience had just about run out. Richie would make empty promises to Eddie and then ditch him for Beverly, once again. Now, he wasn't mad that he was hanging out with his girlfriend. He was mad that Richie was blatantly choosing Beverly for over him when they had been friends since as long as he could remember.

If he could ditch him for a girl, what's stopping him from ditching him for literally anybody else? He understood that he couldn't be with Richie all the time, but when he was with Beverly, he basically ignored Eddie. He was obviously not his top priority, but then again, he wasn't anyone's. It was like a competition he would never win.

Ben took the seat next to him and gave him a smile. Eddie nodded back and saw that Ben had now had a frown set on his face.

"Ben, what's wrong?" Eddie asked, setting his chin in the palm of his hand.

"Can they do that somewhere else? Not everyone is that lucky to find someone," Ben muttered, looking at the ground. Eddie raised a brow at this but agreed with him.

"It's just terrible," Ben mumbled again.

"It's just fucking shit is what it is," Eddie said to the boy, not realizing Richie and Beverly were now behind them.

"What's fucking shit, Eds?" Richie sat in front of the pair while Beverly stared at the kids in the class, bored.

"Nothing," Eddie spat, rolling his eyes.

"Geez, can't a guy just ask a question nowadays? What a tragedy," Richie clucked his tongue. Seeing Eddie's heated glare, he raised his arms in surrender and backed away, his lips twitching in amusement.

Ben set his lips into a line and glanced at Eddie.

"Why do you care so much?" Ben questioned, suspicion dancing in his eyes.

"Why do you?" Eddie asked back, folding his arms.

"Do you like Beverly too?" Ben moved closer to Eddie, eager to get answers.

Eddie laughed and slammed his hand on the desk multiple times, earning several glares from his classmates.

"That's fucking hilarious!" Eddie wheezed out, catching his breath.

Eddie halted, pointing a finger at Ben, "Did you just say, 'too'?"

Ben eyes widened as he started spluttering out a response.

"No!" Ben denied, making Eddie laugh once again.

"Holy shit! You like-" Eddie was interrupted by Ben's hand over his mouth.

Richie watched the interaction curiously and forced himself to tear his attention away.

"S-Shut it!" Ben whisper-yelled.

"Please," he begged, holding on to Eddie's sleeve.

Eddie sighed, moving his eyes to Richie, who was currently talking to Beverly. He had never noticed that there was no emotion in his eyes whenever they were together, nothing.

Huh. Interesting.

Eddie thought that when you're in a relationship with somebody, you can clearly see that they care deeply for each other, but with Richie and Beverly, that wasn't the case.

But hey, what did Eddie know about relationships?

Eddie returned his focus back to Ben and agreed.

Ben grinned and hugged Eddie tightly, making him let out a squeak.

Ben apologized sheepishly and looked at the 'happy' couple.

"Hey, why is Richie staring at us? Do you think he knows I like Bev?" Ben squealed.

"Uhm, I don't think so.." Eddie trailed off, furrowing his brows together.

After class, Eddie decided to confront Richie about how he felt about their friendship.

"Hey, Richie!" Eddie yelled as he tried to catch up to him while walking out of school.

Richie hesitantly stopped and looked at him curiously.

"Can you please stop looking at me in class?" Eddie whispered, keeping his eyes downcast.

Richie tilted his head while he asked, "Why? I like looking at you."

Eddie snapped his head up quickly, causing him to wince and rub his hand on the back of his neck.

"Uh.. anyways, I just.. don't think you treat me very well sometimes," Eddie paused, "And it hurts me because it reminds me of what we once had."

"I don't treat you well?" Richie questioned, his voice sounding extremely sad.

"I-I," Eddie stuttered, his face feeling flushed.

"I've got to go, I'm sure my moms worried," Eddie rushed past Richie.

"Eds," Richie called out softly as Eddie did this which was left unheard by the boy he admired.
