Ch 16 - The Waiting Game

You step out of the room thinking of what Issa said. You are so lost in thought that you didn't pay attention to where you were going. When you finally realized that you were walking around being lost in thought and looked up to see where you were, The room that you wandered into was setup for combat training. You were admiring the weapons when you heard footsteps behind. You turned to see who it was and saw that it was Issa. He wandered over to a section of the wall and pulled a sword off of it. He then walked towards with the blade out for you to take.

"Here take this weapon as your own. You can have this. You will need to fight one of the people that are in the gauntlet. She only duels with swords. Know this though. The blade you hold enhances your speed. It's one of the fine weapons given to the Shuzen household and you can that our crest is engraved in the hilt. I would like for you to at least have a chance. If you would like, I could show you some techniques?" Issa said to you.

"Sure any help that I get would be good and maybe it just might drive me to become better and work even harder." You say.

"Akua!" yelled Issa.

A girl with black medium length hair appeared almost out of nowhere. She had a glossy black trenchcoat over her and had a longsword in her hand and another strapped on her back.

"Yes father?" She asked.

"Shall we give the kid that wants to marry your sister a show?" Issa asked.

She walks over to you and grabs a hold of your face in her hand. She turns your face one way and then the other examining you the whole time.

"He quite handsome for a half-breed. I will give my sister that. Sure father let's go." she said.

"Wait what about both Mokas?" you asked.

"This is where you learn what we call the waiting game. We can't do anything for them. We can only wait until they wake up. I have called the school so if you don't arrive nack when you are suppose to they will know where you and the others at and it won't be an issue. Come watch and learn." Issa said.

Issa and Akua stood a few paces from each other and held their swords with the tip pointing out at each other. They bowed to each other. As soon as they where both standing straight up again, you saw that Akua instantly went straight towards Issa. Right as Issa swung Akua side-stepped and swung her blade upwards deflecting Issa's blade. You could hear the power of strength used in the swings when the blades hit making a loud ringing noise on contact. Issa swung again with agility and Akua went and stood on her hands and started twirling around with Issa trying to back up watching her and then out of nowhere she kicked him straight in the chest, sending him flying backwards right into the wall. You saw that she wasn't even breathing hard from it and when Issa got up, he held his out and said "enough".

Akua came over to where you were standing. She looked at you straight in your eyes and said "If you want myself be willing to face me in the gauntlet. I am the second to the last obstacle standing in your way of being with Kokoa."

With that said she seemed to disappear into the shadows leaving you standing there now knowing another person that was part of the gauntlet. For the first time you felt fear from having to fight someone. Just as Issa put the blade that he held in his hand back on the shelf, a maid came in.

"They are awake master." said the maid and she left.

"Come. Let's go see how they are." Issa said.

You and Issa left together as friendly acquaintances to go see both Mokas.
