Ch 18 - The Price Of Power

When you woke up again, Kokoa was in the bed with her head resting on your chest. You looked and notice Akua sleeping in a chair. You thought that you knew the perfect person for her. You slowly grab your cellphone off the table next to the bed and sent a text to a friend. You decided it was time to just wait for a response. It wasn't thirty seconds later you got a text back from your friend. Call me. It's urgent and be prepared to brace yourself. You go through the contacts until you come across the name Taznier. You hit the call button and waited.

"Hey (F/N) is that you?" Taznier said.

"Yeah man. What's up?" you say.

"Brace yourself for this bad news. Your parents were killed two days ago. I'm sorry to give you the bad news man." Taznier said.

Akua was watching you but you didn't realize it. Your face went a pale white and tears started to stream down your face.

"Thanks for letting me know man. I will call you again within the next few days. Bye bro." you said and ended the call.

"Are you all alright?" Akua asked you.

You jumped because you didn't realize she had woken up and when you moved it woke up Kokoa. Kokoa saw you crying and instantly hugged you and asked "What's wrong?"

"My friend back in the human world just told me that my parents were killed." You said.

You got out of the bed and grabbed your sword. You took off running out of the room and didn't pay any attention in where you were running. When you came to realize where you were, you noticed that you were standing on the edge of a cliff looking out over the ocean. You sat down on the ground and just looked out across the ocean not paying any attention to time passing. It was a long time before anybody found you. Kokoa and Akua were the first to reach where you were at.

"This was a retaliation from him fighting for our house." Akua said to Kokoa.

Kokoa slowly approached you. You turn your head when you heard footsteps coming from behind you.

"Just leave me alone. Go away." you yelled and went back to crying.

Akua put her hand on Kokoa's shoulder.

"Come. Let him be for now. He just needs some time." Akua said to Kokoa as she shoved Kokoa towards the house.

It had been four days since you ran from the castle and came to the cliff. You didn't eat or drink anything. You hardly even slept. All you did was sit and stare out over the ocean. You were filled with nothing but hate and depression. You had lost the will to do anything. You didn't think that you were ever going to be the same again. The thought that came into your head was an old saying "With power comes a price" repeating over and over in your head. You knew life was too good to be true. You wanted revenge and didn't realize that you were willing to almost sacrifice everything for it.
