Frank comes back and sits down on the stool at our table. "They'll be ready soon," he says. "Okay," I say. I look out the window and at the fog. It's really cold today. No wonder it's so foggy. I shiver because I'm cold. It's cold inside, too. This café doesn't have the heater on. I rub my arms. Their coffee better be good.
"Here," Frank says, passing me his leather jacket. "Oh no, it's okay," I say. "I already have a jacket on. Just take it." I sigh, and take Frank's jacket. I put it on myself. "It looks better on you than it does on me, anyway," Frank says. I laugh. "Okay," I say, not believing him. It's not true anyway.
"Frank," The girl working at the café calls out. Frank gets up and takes the coffee from her. He comes back, and hands me my coffee. "Thank you," I say, taking a sip. "Oh yeah." I open up my backpack and take out my wallet. Five dollars works. I take out five dollars, and hand it to Frank. "It's okay. I don't need it," Frank says, waving my hand away. I glare at him, and he takes it quickly with a scared look on his face.
I take another sip and blink my eyes. My eyes are really tired, and I want to rub them, but then I'd mess up my eyeliner. I try not to shiver because it's so cold, but I do. Frank looks at me. "You still cold?" he asks. I nod. Frank scoots his stool closer to mine and put his arms around me. He rubs my cold arms with his warm hands. He's wearing mittens. "I'll warm you up," he says. "Thank you," I say, kissing his cheek. He blushes, then smiles.
Frank and I finish our coffee, and look at each other. "You ready for hel- I mean, school?" I ask. Frank nods. He looks at his phone. "Yeah. Let's go," he says, jumping down from his stool. I do the same, and we walk out the door. After walking for a little bit, we get to school.
"We're still a little early," Frank says. "Yeah. Let's sit down over there," I say, pointing to the stairs that lead to the school. Frank and I walk over to them and sit down in the middle of the steps. Frank puts his arm around me and strokes my hair. I lean into him and close my tired eyes.

"(Y/N)," Frank whispers. "(Y/N). Wake up. It's time to wake up. (Y/N)." I open my eyes, and Frank is poking my cheek. "How long was I out?" I ask. "Um, five minutes?" I nod, and stand up. "We're still early?" I ask. Frank nods. Then I see someone approaching. It's Mikey! Gerard comes in after, and then Ray. I wave to them. They see me, and wave back.
"Hey! You're already here?" Gerard asks, walking up to us. "Yeah. My clock was wrong. Frank too. We were an hour early," I say. "Wow. Well, school starts in fifteen minutes now," Gerard says. "What did you guys do for an hour?"
"We got coffee. We didn't get to drink any this morning because we were rushing and trying not to be late," Frank says. "Yeah. I have to go to the bathroom," I say. "I'll be right back." I walk into the school and into the girls' bathroom. I look in the mirror. I see a pale girl in a Nirvana shirt with messed up eyeliner and purple bags under her eyes. "Crap," I say.
I get out my makeup remover wipes. I wipe off my eyeliner, and reapply it, slowly and carefully this time, instead of rushingly and quick like I did this morning. I get out a small tube of concealer and put it under my eyes. It doesn't cover all of my shadows, but it covers it really well.
Why does Frank like me? I look like a mess. I run my fingers through my hair, which I barely brushed this morning. I really am a mess. When I feel like I look a little better, I go to the bathroom and then walk out of the school to my friends.
"I'm back," I say, sitting on the steps.
