[ ok hi, so this is a note from me, from the future, saying that i first started writing this story around two years ago, and looking back on my writing, i can see that starting out, i wasn't very good at all. i just want to give a warning, that the first few chapters aren't written very well, but (thankfully) i did get a lot better later on. anyways, that's just a warning, thanks for reading💞]

Archie's pov
Cheryl's father had commit suicide after the town had learned the truth about what happened to Jason. That was a couple weeks ago. And since then, riverdale  had been quiet. Peaceful even. As if all the horrible things that had occurred here hadn't, it seemed normal. And me, Betty, jughead, and Veronica carried out our normal lives. I stood in the hallways of the school, when I felt someone tap me on my shoulder. I turned around to see my girlfriend, Valerie. Now that everything was back to normal, I had more time to think about things like romance, a little while ago, when Jason's body was first found... if I had  time then to think about relationships, I probably would have been with someone. Someone other then Valerie.  But, I didn't. And I did end up with Valerie, so I have to believe everything happens for a reason. I have to believe that Valerie was who I was meant to be with. "Hey Archie" she greeted. "Hey Valerie" I responded. "Are you ready to work on your songs?" She asked. Music was something me and Valerie had in common, and was probably why we were together in the first place. "Yeah, just give me a minute" I said opening my locker. "Meet you in the music room" she said walking away. Sometimes I worried that music wasn't just something we had in common. It was the only thing we have in common. But I walked towards the music room. As I was walking, I noticed Veronica out of the corner of my eyes. She was standing against a wall, talking on the phone with Someone. "But I don't want him here!" She yelled on the phone, and I swear I saw her eyes glisten as if they were flooded with tears. I ran over to her. "Ronnie are you okay?" I asked touching her shoulder. "Fine" she replied, looking down to cover her face. "Is it your dad?" I continued to question. She looked up at me and I could now clearly see a tear running down her cheek. She nodded. "Talk to me Ronnie what happened?" I asked. "He's coming home" she replied. "Isn't that a good thing?" I asked. She shook her head again. "He's guilty archiekiens. My mom is lying for him, and there are innocent people's lives being destroyed because of their lies. If he comes home I'll have to pretend that's everything's just normal" she said with more tears escaping her eyes. "It'll be ok Ronnie, me and Betty, and Kevin, and jughead will be here for you, your not alone. And I'll always be open to talk our listen or just be there with you whenever you need ok?" I reassured her gently. She nodded her head, and I pulled her into a hug. She burrowed her head up to chest. "Thanks archie" she said lightly. I turned around to see Valerie starring at us in anger. "Damn it" I mumbled. She ran off. Probably got the wrong idea. I was about to run after her, but I had to make sure Veronica was all right first. As I turned around, she read my mind. "I'll be fine. Go" she commanded . I nodded and ran after Valerie. "Valerie!" I Called after her. She whipped her head around sharply. "What do you want?" She huffed. "Val, why are you so mad?" I asked. "Oh I don't know. Maybe because I was waiting for you in the music to just to see you canoodling Veronica!" She exclaimed. "I was on my way Val but Ronnie was really upset, and she's one of me best friends! I wasn't just gonna leave her crying there!" I argued. "Yeah Archie but shouldn't you be more concerned for your own girlfriend?"   She challenged. "Concerned? Val, your fine! Veronica is going through a rough time with her family she needs support more then you do right now" I replied. "But how would you know I'm fine? Archie your never there for me, you never ask me how I am or anything" she said. " "look Valerie, you know I'm there for you if you need to talk, but Veronica is my friend, so if you expect me to bail on my friends when we're together, then you obviously don't know me very well" I argued, she huffed. "Look Archie, i'd be fine if this was jughead, or Kevin, or even betty! But do you know what everyone says? They think your cheating on me with Veronica. Everybody thinks your so damn perfect for each other. So How do you think that makes me feel when you blow me off for her?!" She complained. I starred in awe. "I didn't bail on you, I took three seconds to cheer up a friend, and who do you even care what other people think of us?  I'm with you, not Veronica" I pointed out. She sighed, calming down, "If this keeps up you won't be with me anymore" she said. "What are you talking about?" I asked. "I want you to stop hanging out with Veronica" she said. "What? Val you don't get to dictate my choices, why can't you just trust me?" I asked. "Because I can't trust you! So if you care about me you'll stop hanging out with her!" She yelled. "Look Val, I really do care about you. But I can't do what your asking me to" I responded quietly. "Well if you can't, then we're breaking up. Your choice Archie. Me, or her." She says. I sighed. She was acting crazy. She had to realize that. I hadn't even cheated on her, just hugged one of my best friends. "Look Val, I really like you... but if you make me choose between you Two.... I.choose Veronica. She's a good friend and that comes first. It's not that I don't care about you, but I would choose my friendship with Veronica over anything. She's been with me through a lot, and like I said. I don't abandon my friends" I said confidently. Valerie starred at me, as if she thought I would say other wise, or like she was waiting for me to change my mind and say otherwise. "I see how it is" she said with tears forming in her eyes. She turned around and swiftly started walking away. "Val wait-" I said going after her. "No!" She yelled turning around to face me. She sighed, "you didn't even have to think about it Archie" she said with a quiet trembling voice, then turned around and walked away. But this time I didn't go after her. Because she was right. I didn't think about it. I just did it. Picking Veronica was instinct. There never was another option.

Authors notes.
Hi guys, I know the first part of my story was kinda short, but I promise my other chapters will be longer and much more entertaining. I started writing this story because RIVERDALE IS BACK AND IM NOT OKAY!  anyways I'm a big varchie and bughead shipper, and one ep of riverdale a week is not enough for me. So I'll write this while I wait for actual episodes. I started to rite this first, but I'll also be posting a bughead story soon. Anyways for this story, it'll be mostly varchie, but I also wanted to put my own mystery into it, so it will have a plot, and I'll have one of the characters be guilty the crime, but since I started writing before season two started to come out, it'll ave noting to do with the actual riverdale plot. ( just a warning) anyways hope you enjoy
