Bella woke up the next morning and started her morning routine, nothing out of the ordinary happened until she started heading to school. When Bella was heading to school she saw a bunch of helicopters coming, 'That's strange' she thought. Then the helicopters landed in the courtyard, 'What's going on?' Bella thought slightly panicked, then soldiers started coming out of the helicopter and started heading towards her. She was frozen in shock and couldn't move, then out of nowhere a boy appeared right next to her and grabbed her arm, pulling her through what looked like some kind of portal. She looked around at her surroundings and saw what looked to be blue moss covering the buildings, 'Wait a second' she thought, 'Am I in the 1st level of the twilight?' Then she looked up at the boy and realized she knew him, "Gideon?" Bella asked unsure as she looked up at him, he looked down and smiled at her. Then she hugged him, Bella had so many questions she wanted to ask but then Bella realized the situation she was in.
"We've got to get out of here, no time for questions," he said, Bella nodded, he reached his hand out and she took it as he pulled her along the pathways heading towards the front entrance. She looked up at Gideon and saw how exhausted he was, 'If we're in the twilight' She thought, 'then it must suck the energy from him the longer he stays here' Bella thought this, as the realization hit her. She looked up at him, worried and he noticed her worried look.
"What's wrong?" He asked.
"You look exhausted." She replied, caring for his well being. He just looked at her and smiled.
"I'm fine, really." He said as if it was nothing.
"No, you're not." She exclaimed calmly, he just looked at her and sighed, knowing she wasn't going to stop worrying about him. They didn't say anything to each other until they ran out of the area, residing in a forest nearby. "Hey, Gideon?" Bella asked.
"Yeah?" He replied, waiting for her to tell him what she wanted to say.
"Are we in the twilight?" She asked, curious to know. He looked at her, shocked and surprised.
"How did you know?" He asked, still shocked at what Bella said.
She giggled and said, "I read the night watch and the day watch."
"Ah," He said as he realized how she knew and decided to exit the twilight.
"Wait, does that mean your an other?" Bella asked as she realized how stupid she was not to see this earlier. He nodded and she just looked at him, still shocked by her new discovery. Then she realized something else, a bit scared to ask the question. "So are you a light or a dark other?" Bella asked as she thought of the pros and cons of being one or the other.
"Dark," He said, "But the watches were destroyed before either of us were born" He explained as he looked to see her reaction, Bella was shocked, but to his surprise, she looked pretty happy about what he told her. "Why are you happy?" He asked, curiosity taking the better of him.
"I'm just glad that you're fighting for freedom." She replied, understanding the beliefs of the dark others.
"So you don't think I'm bad?" He replied, shocked at her answer.
Bella giggled at his reaction and replied, "I understand that not all dark others are bad and how some people are dark others and not evil." He nodded in understanding. "Why were they after me?" Bella asked.
"Honestly...I don't know..." Replied Gideon, "I have a suspicion that maybe...It could be possible that you're a..."
"A what?" Bella asked, more curious than ever.
"An other" Gideon replied waiting for her reaction.
"I'm a what?!" Bella exclaimed.
