Warning: This chapter also includes graphic violence, so read at your own risk. (Also did you notice: 13 - unlucky number - tragedy!)
Friday, (who was actually Aris) was pinned to the wall by the huge chink of metal. I stare at his/her limp form in horror. The bus is still and silent, everyone mute in the face of such a gory scene. Jonas stands up and walks to the front. He carefully takes Aris/Friday's hand and checks their pulse. Suddenly, I realised that nobody else knows that this is actually Aris. A dribble of blood streaks down Aris/Friday's chin, joining the red stains on the front of his/her shirt, and his/her eyes are blank orbs.
"She's dead." Jonas says, his voice breaking. I try to tell them No, its Aris, not Friday but I can't speak. When I try, all that comes out is a gasp. I glance around. People in the bus are curled up in their seats, some have hands over their mouths to stop the moans and whimpers from escaping. Gently, without touching anything, I remove the piece of metal from Aris/Friday's chest, and lay the body on the floor. Jonas is still leaning on the wall there, shaking. He looks like he is about to have a breakdown. Just as I think this, he stands up. There is no emotion in his cold eyes.
"She said no one would get hurt." He says, rage drawing over his features like a mask. Everyone in the bus shrinks back. He slams open the doors and makes his way over to the second bus, his steps slow and deliberate. I follow him. I know I cannot stop him, but perhaps I can deal with some of the damage. He rips off the doors of the other bus and I hear terrified screams. I shove people out of harms way as he grabs Cassie by the neck and drags her out of the bus. I knew he was strong, but... wow.
"Everybody stay in the bus!" I yell, my shouts just heard over the noise of other frightened Gyfted. Jonas stalks over to a spot just outside the two buses. He holds up his hand and everything goes strangely quiet.
"You promised there would be no consequences." He hisses at Cassie.
"It was a mistake..." Cassie tells him. "Just a miscalculation." At that, Jonas' face boils red.
"A mistake" he spits. "Her death, was a miscalculation." He is towering over Cassie. He pulls her up by the neck and glares at her, then drops her to her knees in front of him.
"I will never forgive you." He tells her through gritted teeth. He stands back and places his hands on her shoulders.
"W... what are you doing?" Cassie stammers. Then her face turns purple and she screams in pain.
Just a quick note, it gets really gory here so you can skip this part to the next bold text. ->
A huge gash appears on her chest, gushing blood. But instead of pouring onto the ground, it twines up in streams until it forms a sphere of blood, hovering above her.
"Now you see that I am all powerful." Jonas gloats. His water power - that he has never before showed any sign of - is the most unstable and powerful of them all. He must be able to control the water in everything, even blood. The sphere of Cassie's blood slams into Jonas, and coalesces into a deep-red, leather coat. Jonas looks around, at the buses, the gaping Gyfted, Cassie's dead body. Then he turns and runs into the forest, a demented gleam in his eye.
Okay if you skipped that part, here is what happened: Jonas killed Cassie and ran away.Wow, sorry for the short chapter, but I just wanted to end with this and I couldn't think of any fillers.
