Gyfted

Part 5 - Settling In

*A/N: Sorry for the boring chapter, just introducing the facility and coming up with ideas for the characters. Keep reading! :)*

Only one more gyfted came today. A tall, brown-haired guy called Tomas. Seeing him brought back memories of my old life. So Now I'm making a list of everything that I can remember before today.

1. My parents "got rid of me" and that's how I ended up here
2. My old room was next to a jacaranda tree
3. I did something terrible and that's why my parents threw me out

Tomas seems nice. Apparently he can create force fields or something, and even use them to fly. Sort of like Susan Storm from Fantastic Four. Actually, thats another thing I remember about me; I loved books. This place is pretty cool. Alliya is nice and so are all the staff. But it seems sort of... clinical.
"Emmi!" Alliya's voice breaks through my thoughts.
"Are you coming to the dining hall? It's time for dessert!" She yells from outside my door. From what I can tell, Alliya lives life Loud, with a capital L.
"Wait up!" I call back. I grab a denim jacket from the pile of clothes on the end of my bed. Someone delivered them while I was at dinner, and they fit me perfectly. They must have been ready for us.
" So what do you think the next gyfted is gonna have?" She asks me once I get outside.
"What?"
"What power do you think they're gonna have?" She clarifies.
"Oh.. um... I don't know, probably like super speed or the ability to turn invisible." I reply.
We walk down to the dining hall, which takes up the whole first level of one wall. Tomas is waiting there for us.
"It's apple pie, guys" he says. Really good apple pie, though. With ice cream. The one thing that I already love about this place is the food. Soooo good.
<so> I mind-whisper to Alliya. <what do you think of this place?>
<I don't know. it's weird, not remembering anything> she mind-whispers back.
After dessert, The Doctor meets us in the courtyard.
"I think it's time that I showed you around properly." He says, grinning at us.
He takes us over to the large metal door on one side of the courtyard, and scans his keycard.
"We have a bottom level at this facility." He tells us as we walk down the corridor to the same elevator that I first rode in when I woke up. "You are welcome to use it. It contains a gym, an indoor pool and a couple of recreation rooms." Alliya and I look at each other in delight. The elevator stops and we look out to see a brightly coloured hallway. I walk over to the first door. It has one of the same electronic signs on it that we have on the doors to our rooms. This one reads

B1 - Girls Recreation Room

"Wait, so the girls and guys have seperate rec. rooms?" I ask him.
"Yes, but the pool and the gym are open to everyone" he replies.
This is so cool. We run along the hallway looking at every room as we go. There are heated pools, pools with slides, rock climbing walls, weightlifting stations, even a room with a giant Xbox.
"How do we get down here without you, though?" Tomas voices the question we've all been thinking.
"Your key cards allow access to anywhere in this facility , as long as you have permission" The Doctor answers.
"Cool!" Alliya shouts. The Doctor takes us back to our rooms, talking about the facility all the way. But before he leaves, I have a question.
"Hey, um... Doctor, I forgot to ask you. What's your name?" I ask.
"Grayson. Doctor Dick Grayson." I smile.
"Can I call you Dr. Robin?" He smiles too.
"Sure"
