Writing Prompt: "The bus broke down near your house, I know we're not super close but I live three miles away and this storm is horrible, can I stay over?"

I sat at work, watching the clock, which hung on the wall. I had gotten work done early and was waiting for work to end so I could go home for the day. I yawned and shut off my computer. I tidied up my desk and threw away trash, still eying the clock. I scooted my chair into my desk and looked up at the clock.

One minute. I thought.

I watched as the seconds went by, and the hand moved. inching closer to the number twelve.

The second the hand touched the twelve I grabbed my bag and walked outside my office, locking it. I walked to the elevator, passing co-workers on the way, who were just starting to pack up. I smiled and walked into the elevator, pushing the first-floor button.

I waited for it to open in the lobby, and I rushed outside. about three inches of snow covered the ground, as the snow continued to fall from the sky.

I really hope they cancel work tomorrow. I pondered.

I walked to the bus stop and sat on the bench, under the small glass building around the back and sides of it. I felt my hands start to numb, from the cold, as I waited for the bus.

When the bus came I quickly got in, paying the driver. I sat in an empty seat and looked at the window. I watched more people get on from out of the corner of my eye, taking a seat. The bus slowly started moving before we picked up some speed.

I watched as the buildings, trees, bushes, and people burred passed, as I watched outside of the cold, glass window. My breath fogged it a little and I hugged myself with my jacket. The storm had been getting worse.

We were slowly losing speed when I noticed the bus had come to a complete stop.

People were talking before the driver came on the radio.

"Attention: We have come to a stop from the bus having a flat tire. If you wish to stay on the bus there will be at least an hour wait before we get moving from the heavy snow. There is a hotel only a few blocks from here if you wish to get off and wait out the storm."

I sighed knowing I would probably not get home tonight. I watched and listened as people complained about wanting to get home for the holidays. Some people even took the offer and dared to get off the bus to walk to the hotel. I rested my head on the palm of my hand and looked at the window once more. My eyes lit up as I soon realized where we were. I looked across the street where houses stood.

My boss lived on that street. Maybe I could see if I could stay the night with him? I wondered.

I grabbed my stuff and pulled my coat hood up, getting off the bus. I waited for the tiny amount of traffic to pass before I crossed the road.

I made my way down the houses until I reached his house. I rang the doorbell and took off my hood. I heard footsteps before the door swung open.

"Hello, Mr. Stark. The bus broke down near your house, I know we're not super close but I live three miles away and this storm is horrible, can I stay over?" I asked.
