"A kind act can sometimes be stronger than a sword."
-Percy Jackson and The Battle of the Labyrinth

§

I stared at myself in the mirror and smiled softly. I ran my hands through my hair and played with the curls a bit.

"I feel like Leo Valdez," I mumbled to myself and laughed.

"Angel, turn around!" Asher's voice shouted from behind me and I frowned, looking behind me to see a huge yellow python. I shrugged and walked towards it. I grabbed my phone from my pocket and opened the camera. I took a photo of it and smiled.

"Beautiful," I mumbled, smiling to myself.

"What?" Asher screamed and I frowned, looking up at him. "How are you not afraid?"

"What do you mean? This is an amazing specimen of snake. And this is only half the size an adult grows." I said and he groaned.

I stared at the camera in his hand and tilted my head to the side, "Why do you have a camera?"

"What? Oh! We make videos on YouTube. Right now we have about 1 million subscribers."

"Why?"

"It's our job."

"...Okay!" I said shrugging. Asher breathed a sigh of relief and I sat down next to the python. "What's its name?"

"Her name is Kayla."

"That's a nice name," I said and started stroking her.

"How are you so calm?" Asher asked, setting the camera on the desk.

"I had to study pythons for a few months for one of my books."

"I'm guessing you needed the information for most of the book?"

"No, I just needed it for 2 or something chapters," I said and Asher stared at me in confusion.

"Have you needed it again?" He asked and I thought for a moment.

"Once or twice."

"What?" Asher exclaimed and I looked at him with a raised eyebrow.

"I need to know what I'm talking about. I once spent a year learning about something for one character. And they only show up rarely." I said and Asher's jaw dropped. I laughed at his expression.

"Are you a real author?" Asher asked and I shrugged, still stroking Kayla.

"I have a publisher but sometimes I work at a cafe with my friend's wife," I said and he nodded. I noticed he hadn't stroked Kayla. I didn't comment but just continued to examine her.

"Hey, can you help me?" He asked and I looked up at him, an eyebrow raised.

"With what?"

"Well, I'm going to prank the others and I was wondering if you could help me."

"Sure," I said shrugging, "What do you want me to do?"

"Just put it in front of Heath's room." He said and I picked Kayla up, walking to Heath's room.

I placed her gently in front of his door and I took a few steps back and screamed.

The door burst open and Heath nearly took a step forward but stopped when he saw Kayla. He screeched and slammed the door.

I laughed, holding my stomach and Zane came out of his room. He saw Kayla and eyed me suspiciously.

"What happened?" He asked, staring at me accusingly. I put my hands up, chuckling.

"I just put the snake in front of the door, man," I said and looked at Asher, who was trying not to laugh.

And failing.

Seeing his face made me burst into laughter, him starting to laugh with me.

"Heath is probably crying in his room right now," Zane said, pointing at the door.

We then heard Heath crying, dramatically. He opened the door, still crying (jokingly, don't worry) and stepped over Kayla. He walked over to me and hugged me, crying into my shoulder.

He started laughing an tried to put his head up, but I shushed him and put it back on my shoulder.

"Your fate has been sealed, my child. You will spend the rest of your life on my shoulder. Don't struggle. Accept it." I said, whispering the last part. He burst out laughing, but I still didn't let go.

"Okay, okay, Angel you can let go of me now." He said, hitting my chest.

"Accept it."

"No!" He said as I started walking towards the stairs. He hit my chest once more and I finally let go, rubbing where he hit.

"Eina." I hissed and Heath furrowed his brows.

"You okay?"

I waved him off and nodded, walking downstairs. I heard Zane whispering but I ignored it and grabbed the keys.

"I'm going for a walk!" I shouted, closing the door behind me. I unlocked the gate and opened it, making sure to lock it behind me.

Once I was sure it was locked I put my hands in my pockets and started walking. I was just walking around when I found a park. I smiled to myself and started walking into the gates.

I was singing softly to myself when someone put there hand on my shoulder.

"Are you Leo King?" A girl's voice came from behind me. I turned around and saw a group of three teenage girls looking at me giddily.

"Um..."

What should I say? I mean, Asher said about making videos on YouTube but I don't know how he acts. What if I mess up? I don't want people to know what I look like! I made a fake name for a reason!

---

Okay, okay, time out. I know I just said that I made a fake name. And that is true. But, the social media they found was my main one. The one that my fans don't know about. To them, I'm a22-year-old named Katelyn Blue. But, let's carry on with the story.

---

My mind was filled with questions but I try to ignore them.

"Yeah! And you guys are?" I asked, hoping that he doesn't know them.

"I'm Ashly." A blonde girl with blue eyes and pale skin says.

"I'm Pepper." She has bleached hair and grey eyes with light skin.

"I'm May and this is my little sister, June." She has brown curly hair and freckles with dark brown eyes.

I was confused for a moment but she stepped to the side a little bit, revealing a little girl.

"Hello, how are you?" I asked, crouching down to her level and extending my hand. She stared at my hand for a second before hesitantly taking it. I smiled at her encouragingly and she gave a weak smile back before hiding behind May again.

"Sorry, she's shy," May said and I shrugged, standing up.

"It's fine," I said and they took a few pictures and left.

That's enough socializing for one day.

I started walking back to the house, hoping no one comes up to me.

I smiled as I saw the gate and grabbed my keys from out of my pocket. I walked in and smelt something burning as soon as I stepped into the house.

I quickly walked to the kitchen and yelped at the sight before me.
