When Friday came around, Rhiley couldn’t wait for the weekend. She was on her way to her locker for her gym bag. It felt like someone was watching her and she swore under her breath. All week Chloe has been following her trying to catch her alone.

Their footsteps stopped on the other side of her open locker door so she couldn’t see them. When she had her bag safely on one shoulder, she closed her locker and was surprised to see a boy she didn’t know. Tall, built, dark shaggy hair, cocky. She knew it was Jax before his scent hit her moments later.

“How can I help you? I’m going to be late.” She crossed her arms and waited impatiently.

“In a hurry to get away from me?” He smirked.

“I’m in a hurry to not be late for class.”

He squared his shoulders before talking again, “Fine. I’ll make this as quick as you let me then. What do you have against me?”

            “What?” She was genuinely confused.

            “Why do you hate me?”

“Oh, I get it. Someone’s used to their pack groveling at their feet.” She snorted.

“I know something happened with your old Alpha but that doesn’t give you permission to hold it against us.” She instantly froze.

“Don’t go talking about things you know nothing about.” Her tone was deadly.

He scowled and was about to say something but she shoved him back into the lockers and got in his face; or as close to it as possible since he was taller.

“Back. Off.” She growled before walking away, leaving him there; stunned.

She got back into the gym in her other clothes just in time to go outside with the class.

“We’re running laps today. The boys are playing football. I want you running, not staring.” Coach Weaver shouted so we could all hear her.

Something bumped her shoulder as she walked and she rolled her eyes at Cassidy beside her.

“You smell like Jax.” She hissed.

“I’m not in the mood today.” Rhiley tried to walk faster but Cassidy was persistent.

“I told you to stay out of my way and that includes Jax.”

“I want more than anything to be away from both of you but he came to me. Keep him on a tighter leash next time. I really don’t want to deal with all this cliché new girl gates hated on by stuck up bitch because her boyfriend wants to whore around.” Rhiley bumped her shoulder back as her fit hit the track and she took off.

Being in a class with humans made class pretty easy. So when Chloe fell in step with her on their way back inside and was sweaty and tired it made Rhiley laugh in her mind.

“You don’t look tired at all.” The black haired beauty sounded jealous.

“I like to run.” She told the lie effortlessly.

“Look, I want to apologize for coming off too strong the first time we talked. I was just curious and you’re kind of intimidating.” She laughed lightly but Rhiley wasn’t sure if she bought it or not.
