"Happy anniversary sa inyo, mga anak.", my mother-in-law greeted.
"Thanks, Tita Mom.", I responded when she kissed me on the cheek.
Sobrang blessed ako kasi I never had problems with my in-laws. They've been nothing but supportive to me and Jeron.
"Happy anniversary to you both. Thank you Ye for keeping my son happy.", my father-in-law said to me.
"Thank you, Tito Dad.", I said back with a smile.
"Ma, Dad. Bakit di niyo kasabay sina achi?", my husband asked.
"Oh, they're on their way, anak, don't worry. Galing kasi sa office ang mga ate mo. Your ahia naman, dinaanan pa sina Wensh.", his mom answered.
We asked them to proceed to our reserved table as Jeron and I waited for the other invited guests to arrive. Jeron booked a dinner reservation for our families in our favorite Chinese restaurant, the same place where we had our engagement celebration.
"Nervous?", he asked, probably feeling the coldness of my hands.
"Oo... Pero mas excited."
"Me too. I can't wait for their reaction. Dapat ata ipa-video coverage natin mamaya.", my husband joked.
"Sira! That'll be too obvious. Picture na lang tayo after.", I replied, smiling.
Minutes later, my whole family came (including my nephews) followed by Jeron's siblings plus Achi Wensh and their cute daughter, Trixie.
Our parents were so happy to see and bond with each other outside business, they kept on thanking us for organizing such event.
"Salamat, iho ah. Na-miss ko itong dalaga ko eh. Na-mimiss na nga ng bahay namin ang ingay niya.", Papa said and gave me a hug.
I couldn't help but think na may papalit na sa ingay ko, at papagurin niya lolo't lola niya for sure.
"Wala po yun, Pa. And wag po kayong mag-alala. Mas mapapadalas na po ulit sa inyo si Mika. Ayoko na kasing maiwan siya sa bahay mag-isa.", Jeron said and we looked at each other with knowing smiles.
"Awww ang sweet niyooo, grabe! To more years filled with love for Jeron and Mika.", Achi Al lifted her wine glass and we all did a toast.
It was after meal and before dessert when Jeron asked the waiter for our customized fortune cookies. I was nervous and at the same time excited. First time namin mag-announce ng ganito and buti na lang naisip 'to ng asawa ko. Pampabawas ng kaba kahit paano.
One by one they opened it and saw the news. Gasps and shrieks filled the place at once.
