Hey cookies! Why yes, I am calling you cookies now! :3 Or waffles. Do you want to be called cookies or waffles? I like them both.

Stray tried to stop her hand from shaking as she poured the tea. Handing a mug to Ash, she stilled her hands by clasping her own mug so hard her knuckles went white.

"So, what brings you here, Sir Haynes?"

Ash swung a dagger in his hand.

"A hybrid."

He spat the last word like it brought a bad taste.

"Those stupid mongrels deserve to be wiped off the face of Minecraftia. Dangerous, bloodthirsty creatures they are."

Behind him, purple ender particles were floating into the air from inside a wooden chest.

"Luckily, I'm a trained professional. None of those things have escaped me yet, and just because this one is ender I assure you it will not be the first."

The particles were showing more clearly.

"I usually trap them and take them to Notch to be sentenced but here's the question- How does one trap something that teleports?" He leaned forward. "I now have the answer."

Stray could almost see Nikita's fear. If she listened carefully, she could hear a faint buzzing noise; the sound of a threatened ender. Ash, however, was oblivious and carried on boasting about his methods. Stray watched the clock, willing him to leave.

Around half an hour later, a soldier burst in.

"We have found traces of the girl."

-------

Stray leaned against the wall, slowly losing hope. Nikita sat beside her, her black hair plastered to her face with sweat. Her eyes were glowing a vibrant purple.

"I was sure they would find me!"

Stray sat down and put her arm around her friend.

"I'm sorry, but it's not over yet. They've found something. If we're gonna leave, we've got to do it now."

-------

Hurrying over to where the men were gathered, Ash weighed up options in his mind. If he found her, was it worth using his... arrangements? Maybe he should just kill her on the spot. The more powerful hybrids were always sentenced to death anyway, so why bother? On the other hand, ender hybrids were very rare. Perhaps Notch would want to perform some tests. Arriving at the crowd, he pushed his way through. What the soldiers were looking at was a couple of black hairs snagged on an overhanging branch. Grabbing one, he shook it. A single ender particle floated to the ground.

"It's hers. Get the flint and steel. We're not going to lose her this time."
