Chapter 17

I finally catch up to Cato and look over at him. When I do I notice him staring at me.

"Why are you smiling," he smirks at me.

Am I still doing that? I try to stop but the second it leaves I start smiling again.

"You don't have to hide it. I liked it to."

We continue our walk and then something finally hits me.

"Weren't you suppose to have left by now?"

His eyes widen and fright flashes through his eyes for half a second before it goes back to normal.

"Well yeah, but I wanted a few more days to explore the district," he says.

That just doesn't make sense. Usually the people from other districts wouldn't want to spend a minute here, especially people from District 2. Then I think of something.

"Does you staying longer have anything to do with me?" I ask, "And don't try to lie to me," I continue.

Cato sighs, "Yes, fine, I just wasn't ready to go yet after all the time we've spent together. I wouldn't see you again for another five months. Just the thought of it makes me sick."

I decide to use this to mess with him.

"Aww, you decided to do that for little old me?"

"Oh shut up," he says but then...he leans in and kisses me.

He pushes me up against a tree and we stay like this for 5 seconds...10 seconds...and after that the only thing running through my head is Cato's lips pressed against mine.
