Chapter 2

"WHAT THE HELL IS HE DOING HERE!" I scream at Haymitch. I lunge at Cato but Haymitch pulls me back.

"He's a victor...like you," Haymitch says. I give him a confused look. A victor like me? But there can only be one? "What the hell is going on?" I ask Haymitch.

"After you passed out Cato did nothing he just sat there. After an hour or so the Capitol hovercrafts came to pick you guys up do to popular demand," Haymitch explains .

"What do you mean by popular demand?" I ask him.

"I mean the Capitol is all obsessed with what they call 'Catoniss'."

Catoniss?

"Well why would President Snow allow this to happen?" Cato finally speaks up. At first I look at him with anger written all over my face but, I don't do anything because I actually want the answer to this question to.

"President Snow was angry at you Cato. When you didn't kill Katniss he saw that as and act of defiance. So when the Capitol started freaking out about it and how they wanted you both out, Snow saw that as a way out or a way to turn the Capitols attention away from the real problem," Haymitch explains

"And the districts?" Cato asks.

So Haymitch continues,"That's the problem," he says uneasily,"the districts saw it as nothing so Cato what you need to do is act like you were so in love with Katniss that you couldn't kill her."

"Well what about me? What do I do?" I ask him.

"You have to pretend to fall in love with him."

"OH HELL NO! I am not going to pretend to love this monster. I know you hate him to Haymitch, for what he did to Peeta," I shout at Haymitch.

"You are a monster!" I turn and tell Cato before storming out the room.
