[Running Low]
Chapter nine;I roll over onto my side, grabbing my phone to see what time it is.
9:45am
'Who the hell is knocking at the door?' I think to myself. I grab a near by jacket and wrap myself into as I walk to my dorm door. I pop the lock, twist the knob and open it slightly. I peak my head threw it and my eyes grow wide.
"Your back!" I whisper excitedly as I open the door wider so I can see him fully.
"Yes I am," he smiles back. My smile grows wider and walk toward him as he engulfs me into hug.
"Miss you," I say as my voice is muffled.
"It's been three days," he comments.
"Three days to long," I reply as I unwrap myself. "Come in." I reopen the door and walk in. I plop onto my bed and he leans against my desk.
"Where were you," I speak up while I look at him.
"Had to visit some family," he replies. I nod my head in satisfaction and lay down fully on my bed.
"I'm tired, thanks for waking me up," I joke.
"Sorry that I wanted to visit," he laughs. "Plus it's almost ten, why were you still asleep?"
"Uh, no classes," I reply in a duh tone.
"I wouldn't have known that dummy," he says to me.
"I'm not a dummy sir," I sit up smiling widely.
"Oops," he jokes. I get up just so I can punch him in his arm. Not like it did anything.
"Ow," he fake pouts as he rubs the area I hit.
"Oops," I mock while batting my lashes, trying to keep a straight face but end up failing.
"Oops my ass," he adds laughing.•••
"Can I take you out somewhere?" Shawn speaks up while the movie credits from "Begin Again" begin to roll.
"Huh?" I ask as I scotch myself so that I am facing him.
"Can I take you out? Like dinner?" He asks again making himself comfortable as he mocks my position.
"Yeah, Uh sure," I say shyly as I tuck a piece of hair behind my hair.
"Great," he smiles.
"When?"
"Seven?" He questions.
"Sure, what should I wear?"
"Something causal, it's a causal evening" he adds.
"Great," I reply making my way back to the starting position I was in, sitting next to him with my head on his shoulder. I then remember that the movie is over. I mentally groan and get up from my spot to bend down and grab a different movie.
"Which one?" I ask him as I hold up to movies.
"Once," he replies as he points at that movie. I put it into the disc player and walk back over to my bed and sit down.I hear my phone go off about thirty minutes into the movie, I reach over and grab it.
"Hello?" I say into the phone.
"Hi is this Jadye Brooks?" The man asks.
"Uh this is she," I reply while looking at a confused Shawn.
"Please come to Mercy West, your brother has been in an–"•••
Running threw the groups of people, I finally get up to the front desk.
"Cameron Brooks please," I say anxiously.
"Who are you– you two, to him?" She asks. I suddenly get confused as to why she said two until I feel a hand on my lower back.
"I'm his sister and this is my friend," I reply.
"Only fa–"
"Please ma'am," I beg her.
"Room two-twenty five, floor three," she replies with a forgivable smile.
"Thank you," I say fighting the tears back. Shawn and I rush to the elevators and climb into the next one that dinged. I impatiently clicked the third floor button as the doors closed.
"Hey," shawn says. "He's going to be fine," he says as he hugs me. The doors open and we find our way to his room. I rush in and see my brother with his eyes closed. I hurry myself to his side and grab his hand.
"No tears Jay," I hear his raspy voice say.
"Oh thank god," I say as a tear rolls down my cheek and into both our hands.
"Hey Cameron," Shawn speaks up calmly.
"Shawn right?" Cam replies.
"Yeah, how are you?"
"In pain but managing. Taking care of my sis?" He asks Shawn.
"Of course man," Shawn says making me smile slightly.
"Cameron what happened?"
"Don't get mad at me please," He starts. "Daniel came at me."——————
