AN HOUR AND forty-two minutes pass before we hear the doorbell.
Em grabs the megaphone from next to her before screaming, "come in!" into it. We're all slightly drunk and no one is willing to get up.
Ten minutes pass before Sara appears in the doorway.
"What took you so long?" Sav questions, her ninth glass of champagne in her hand.
"I couldn't find you guys."
I look up to see Sara, tired, and slightly annoyed. "You look a bit tense, Sara," I say. "Why not have a glass of champagne to... loosen up?"
Step 6. Alcohol.
Sara walks in, clutching eight bracelets, of all different colours. Caleb pours her a glass and she takes it, sipping it slowly. Caleb pours two more empty glasses, "These are for you too, Sara. You need to catch up, we've all had at least three," he says, smiling albeit evilly. We've all actually had at least seven by now, but three to start her off should be fine.
She reluctantly swallows the glass she was holding, before moving on to the second.
I walk over to her and snatch the bracelets away. All different colours. A green, red, dark blue, pink, orange, white, purple and gold. I pass the colours out to each person, giving Sara the white one. "Just like in karate, you start out with white," I say.
She downs the second glass. Then half the third.
"Why don't you take off that ridiculous outfit and join us?" I ask, as we make our way over to the hot tub.
"It's lovely and warm in here," Alice promises.
Step 7. Make her take off her clothes. Not all of them though.
"Um, okay." She strips down to her bra and underwear and hops into the tub with the rest of us.
I'm careful to keep my hand out of the water. Can't get the cast wet.
"When do we go to bed?" She asks.
"Bed? In a few hours or so," Alice says vaguely, waving her hand around.
Sara's eyes flit to the clock, which reads 11pm now.
"Wanna play truth or dare?" Arlo suggests innocently, as if we don't ask this every year. Every year that people have made it through step four, that is.
Step 8. Truth or dare.
"Umm, sure. Nothing illegal will be involved again though, right?" She asks timidly.
"Sure sweetie," Alice responds. "Now, truth or dare?"
Sara is a sweet looking girl, with golden blonde hair, brown eyes, and pale skin. I suggested her because after she came up to us in the cafeteria, I think that she truly, is one of the people that can pass this night. It took courage and confidence to come up to us, something next to no one does, but she did, so here she is tonight in Alice's hot tub, playing truth or dare with us. We get to find out more about her, she gets to find out little bits about us.
"I'd have to go with a truth." Safe option.
Or not.
"What's the worst thing you've ever done?"
Step 9. Direct all questions to her.
"Umm. Ahh. Ummm."
"Come on, goody two shoes, think of something!" Arlo says boredly.
She's visibly struggling to come up with something, before her eyes light up in what I assume is that she has found an answer.
"Well, once, I snuck out of my house at twelve am and didn't come back until two-thirty pm the next day?" She almost questions to us.
