I woke up in the morning with a broken head. Not literally.

"I want to be smart!" Ester eyed me suspiciously. She was taken aback when I grinned at her and hugged her afterwards.

I went to school with daddy's appointed chauffeur, Juan,  so I could read my book in English Literature, my first subject of the day. It seems Travis is having a blast avoiding me, he's already gone when I called him at his home.

"Nicole!" Nicole is startled that she almost chokes on her coffee, "Help me."

She looks at me, almost appalled at my sudden intrusion of her last-minute study time for her exam.  It is lunchtime. Her 1st period in the afternoon is Chemistry. The subject she's bad at.

"I want to get straight As at the end of highschool." I exclaim, shaking her arm in excitement.

"Well, well, well. What is this commotion all about?" Thanks God Stacie arrives. Nicole looks like I really cannot disturb her at the moment.

"She wants to get smart," Nicole answers her without leaving her notes.

"You make it sound like it's impossible!" I whine.

Stacie shakes her head, "Ha-ha."

I puff my breath, "I want to be that pretty girl who is also smart."

"You were smart. You're attention was just distracted by all this 'gossip girl' obsession." Stacie says and sips her diet coke while now scrolling on her phone.

Rolling my eyes, I remember the time I was that 'smart'.

"But you were obese," Stacie again, "Smart but obese."

"Sssssh!" Eyes wide, I cover her mouth while looking around. My palm feels sticky from her lipgloss but I don't care, "Someone might know!" I glare at her.

I glance at Nicole, a sigh of relief when she is on her books again, engrossed. No signs she heard our conversation.

Stacie rolls her eyes and pulls my hand away, "Eew, look at my lips!" She whines and immediately pulls a tissue from her bag and wipes the smudges around her pucker. This is the bad thing about having a childhood friend, someone can disclose all your ugly secrets and you will be reminded by it when it hits you in the head.

I wipe my hand with my handkerchief and throw it into the nearby bin.

"Don't ever mention that chapter of my life," I warn her, "Never again."

Stacie shrugs her shoulders and raises her hands, "Okey, chill."

I exhale, "I think I want to be that bitch who has it all."

"C'mon, Kars, you're being greedy." Stacie clicks her tongue, she knows well how competitive I am with anything I want to do.

"Who says you can't be super pretty and super smart at the same time?" I say.

Stacie flips her hair, revealing her sexy collarbone, "Don't you think it's super late now?"

I tap my fingers on the table, "What is Emily Field's spot on the honor roll?"

Nicole sniggers at my question. Is she listening to us? My brows knit together.
