Josie slept for the entire flight, the fight with the unknown figure had taken it out of her. Evie on the other hand was all riled up, ready for the next battle. Making her sit still for the flight was difficult, Stephanie didn't know we were on the flight at the request of Terrance. Our presence was to be kept a secret until ultimately necessary. We were the backup plan, the secret protection. We could have been allowed to roam freely if Stephanie could lock her mind properly but it had been agreed upon that she was still too young to lock everything. Her parents, were amazingly fine with it, Miranda had taught them well. The man that had been at the hanger, the vice principal had been moved into the office before Alexandru arrived, hidden from Stephanie, the real pilot found and thankfully unharmed. Alexandru said his driver would deal with the vice principal. I didn't want to ask what he meant by deal with, I suspect that if he were to survive, it wouldn't be by much. It probably wasn't entirely his fault. I figure that Gavril has probably blackmailed him with something. Maybe he has a seedy life outside of the school, maybe he did something that was against the school's policies. Maybe Gavril had something that he could hold over him or he owed him a favour. The list of reasons was endless but it probably boiled down to one little thing. Money. I had heard what he was offered to kill Steph, one million dollars. Ten thousand for the rest of us. To him that could have been a very comfortable life.

The flight went well, there was no turbulence, there were no issues when we landed. Everything was suspiciously fine. I could feel an uneasiness tingling through my body. Like we were being led into a trap. Ease us into a false sense of security.

I found it surprising that someone from Gavril's office had supplied Alexandru's family with a family owned house to live in. I smelled a rat and so did Josie. It meant that he could access the residence at any time, who would know of what secret entrances this place had. Everyone was on high alert, we took turns in watching Stephanie, there wasn't a single point in time where she was ever alone. Evie was always with Stephanie, even though she didn't know it, she was a bug on her clothes, hidden under the collar. I could tell that she was worried for her friend, the only time she wasn't with her was of a night time when Alex was with her. Evie thoroughly disliked him, she knew what he had been up to, how much he had hurt Stephanie. Unlike her friend, Evie had great ability to break into minds. I think that it might have a lot to do with the witch in her, she was probably using a spell of some sort. She had told her mother and I that she had been dipping into Alex's mind, had seen every single dalliance he had since he met Steph. Even when she was in the shifter realm he was misbehaving. The countless times both Terrance and Miranda had tried to speak to him about it, she said he would agree with them, telling them what they wanted to hear and then do as he always did. Clearly he thought he had the right to do as he pleased. He held suspicion about Finn and Steph but wasn't certain what was going on. Evie stated in no uncertain terms that she had a whole stack of spells with Alex's name on them. Waiting for the opportune moment. I had never seen such a dark look on her face when she told us that. She was determined to make him pay. She wanted to hurt him. Evie had never wanted to hurt anyone. Until now.

We had settled in reasonably well considering that everyone was tense. Anxiety was gripping everyone, waiting for the days to pass. It was on the third day that things changed, we had been waiting patiently for Gavril to show, it was his duty to supply the crown and a sash for Alina to be married in. I had wondered if he was the figure in the hanger, if my daughter had sent him into the stratosphere. Stephanie walked into the room, talking to someone at the door, I see a little bug flying over to me as the door shuts and locks.

Gavril is here with the crown and sash. Finally, Josie groans.

Mary and Dale sit in the lounge, they know we are here in our bug form, watching over them.

'We are restricted to this area, they have business that they have to conduct, so we can't leave ok?' Stephanie mutters.

'Of course darling.'

'No letting anyone in either.'

'Why?' Dale grumps.

'Because this country is full of weirdos.'

She wanders off into the bedroom, quickly followed by Josie.

'Will it be soon?' Mary asks quietly.

'Yes.' I respond just as quiet, changing back to the vampire and turning invisible.

'It's all this secrecy and waiting that is killing me.' Dale grumps again, trying to tone down his words.

Out of her bedroom there is a snarl then the sound of glass smashing. Mary and Dale jump to their feet, rushing to her room.

Gavril's here. Josie yells in my mind. Dad take Mary and Dale; I will help mum. No Evie, you are too young. Seriously? I am fine, mum needs me, take them and I will help her. She appears in front of me as I do the same.

'Please, dad, I will be ok, trust me.'

'Ok.'

I usher Mary and Dale into the nearest bedroom, locking the door and pulling the chair over it.

'What is going on out there?' Mary begins to freak out.

'Gavril is out there.'

Watching from the window I see the fight begin, the fight to keep Gavril from killing Steph. This was going to be one very long night.
